Im getting help from my parents to throw our wedding. They are willing to put in 6000 dollars. Has anyone ever thrown a wedding with reception for less than 10 thousand dollars. Every post Ive seen, people are spending between 25-50k!!!! Im feeling really defeated at this point and getting ready to elope!

Re: Realistic Wedding Budget
It is TOTALLY do-able. I called up places like the Knights of Columbus in Oceanside, Knights of Columbus in New Hyde Park and in Bellmore for my father's bday party. They quoted me about 35 bucks per person and some of them even include the linens as well as the floral centerpieces.http://www.knightsofcolumbusoceanside.com/catering-gd.php

Re: Realistic Wedding Budget
Another HUGE factor is the size of your bridal party. The smaller your BP, the fewer flowers you need, the fewer people you need to get transportation for, and the fewer thank you gifts you'll buy. I think if you're willing to have a less 'typical' wedding, you can definitely do it for under $10K.

Re: Realistic Wedding Budget
Wow I cant believe I posted this so long ago! My parents ended up putting in more money since we all fell in love with Jericho Terrace. So thats where were getting married. Were having an off peak February wedding so it was significantly cheaper. Parents paid for RH and FH and I are paying for all of our own vendors and extras. Its a lot easier than I thought it would be. Thanks to everyone for all the help and words of encouragement I received

I'd try Sterling Caterers too. 10K for 100 people and everything was included....essentially all you have to do is show up dressed. HTH
