DH has a friend, whose wife just gave birth to a girl #2. I am not a close friend with the wife, and certainly not close enough to hear 'the birth story'.
It appears that both the first time and 2nd time, they didn't have any labor problems to a point that during #2, DH's friend videotaped the delivery!!! I should also note that this girl is very fit and strict with how she eats.
Can this be true? It appears that many girls who post here have some sort of complications, either during pregnancy or labor or both, so I am just shocked to hear about a totally 'nice' birth experience.
I am trying to figure out if a)such experience is possible or b)we just weren't told of any problems if any were there.

Re: Reality Check
I knew of a few people who have 'text book' type births. Aside from a little mess, there's nothing to report, so yes, it IS possible.

Re: Reality Check
There is tons of hope. My SIL didn't even feel her contractions. That's right...not a single one. She delivered in 9 hours and before she started pushing she actually fell asleep.

Re: Reality Check
Actually now that I think about it, my labor, aside from progressing unusually quickly for a first baby, was pretty tame. It was the delivery that was rough.

Maybe it helped her that she was physically in good shape?

Re: Reality Check
I think my labor and birth was pretty tame -- don't get me wrong, I was in severe pain with back labor and I was screaming for the drugs, but for the most part, I didn't think it was that bad. I didn't get an epidural and I only pushed for about 15-20 minutes! I was one of those lucky ones who went pretty quickly after being induced.

Re: Reality Check
It is definatley a possiblity. I had a wonderful experience. My daughter is almost 6 months old and just yesterday my husband and I were talking about how lucky I was. When I get some 'spare' time, I will share my labor/delivery story.

Re: Reality Check
There are definately labor and delivery stories on both ends of the spectrum...
my friend just gave birth last week...2 days late - she went in to be induced (she is only 4'11' - they didn't want the baby to get too big for her small size) - while she was waiting to be induced...her water broke and 1 1/2 hours later...her daughter was born...
