So.... my mom brought this up once before FH and i got engaged and brought it up bout a month ago again and FH didn't wanna talk about it. I don't either but realize it's a realistic conversation to have.
umm..... burial plots
yeaaah... morbid subject i know.
My mom will be placed with my dad at his family's plot in queens. So i'm on my own and realize it might be custom to go with FH's family. I'm not sure how it works for them though cuz FH's parents are divorced and his father passed away years ago but was cremated (sp). I know that esp. now since were engaged we need to buy a plot if anything but... it's just a strange topic to talk about lol.
thoughts?

We both prefer to be cremated...but he is also in the Navy and may be entitled to a military burial. Not sure what we'll decide, but whatever you decide...make sure your family. next of kin is aware. They are the ones who ultimately 'take care of' you.

Havent thought about it...and not sure I even care too much. I dont plan on buying plots any time soon. If I have that much money lying around...I'd rather spend it on a good vacation. : )

I havent thought of this because I have that werid fear of death where I can get a panic attack. Im strange sorry. I always said though I want to be on one of those mousliem things and not in the ground.
I didnt even want to hear about this when my grandparents bought theirs in FL when I was living with them.

Re: really depressing but realistic topic
A few months back I posted about the same thing.
My parents are separated. My Grandfather (on my Dads side) bought 32 plots back in 1974. And I always assumed I would go there. But when my parents separated 10 years ago that changed b/c my dad didn't want my mom to get buried in his family plot. My mom is engaged and her fiance is going to be buried with his 1st wife, leaving my mom all alone. fast forward to last November... my father passed away and I buried him in the family plot...which is now mine b/c I am the only kin. I could have said OK.. mom we should all go there but I didn't... after everything that happened I don't want to be there. Anyway... My FH and I went with my mom to Pinelawn and we bought 3 of those wall things. They are called crypts but that freaks me out... I want them to be called snugglers lol! That was the 1st large purchase my FH and I made together. It was really weird ..I always thought our 1st purchase would be a house or a car lol. It was unbelievably hard to get out of the car and pick which one we wanted to go in. My FH and Mom were OK. I was a complete mess... It was really bad.
Point is.... its never anything we want to think about but I'm glad that we did it and its over. I couldn't imagine leaving my family with that kind of expense. I was lucky that I already had the plot for my dad because paying for a funeral plus a plot would have been almost impossible for me... I don't ever want to do that to my kids.
