Really not happy...

Really not happy...

I found out today that I need to have surgery in two weeks. It can't really be postponed until after the wedding (I asked) and I am going to have to take some time off of work, which I am worried about because I am already taking off so much time for the wedding.

I know it sounds ridiculous but, I am also now worried about my dress fitting. I had my first fitting and they took the dress in. Now that I am having surgery on my tummy, I am not sure how that is going to work. I should be feeling fine by the wedding, I just really am not happy about this. Not that it is ever a good time, but with working two jobs, the wedding and grad school starting next week, this is REALLY a bad time. When it rains, it pours...

I pray that all will be OK! But definitely take care of your health...you need to be better, everything will fall into place!

Wow, that's a lot to have on your plate. Always put your health first, I wish that everything will work out smoothly for you.

I'm having my gallbladder removed. Apparently you really don't need a gallbladder, I'm just not thrilled about it coming out now. I know that I have to take care of my self first and foremost, it's just that with so much going on at once, it's hard to keep things in perspective sometimes.

Thanks for the kind words!

First of all - I'm so sorry you have to go through all this right before your wedding....

Sounds crazy- but is there any way they can move the surgery UP? I had abdominal surgery years ago and was fully healed (i.e. swelling was gone and was able to finally walk upright) within a few weeks. This way you'll be fine to walk around on your wedding day.

As a fellow grad student who works full time and is getting married, I understand your stress. Think of it this way, you'll only be missing the first few classes, you'll have LOTS of time to do your readings. Professors tend to be very supportive of their graduate students.
Your health must come first!

They should be able to do it laparoscopically (sp). Your incision shouldn't be too bad. I've know people who had it done and were up and around in a few days and fine within 2 weeks.

Worry about your health first. You will look great in your dress!

I had it done in 2000. The first 2 days you are in pain, but after a week the swelling is gone. I went back to work 4 days after the surgery. More discomfort then anything. Good luck to you, everything should be fine! If you want to know more let me know.

Re: Really not happy...

Thanks so much, ladies...I really appreciate it. Unfortunately they can't really move it up any so five weeks before the wedding it is. The surgeon said that I should be 100% by the wedding and should even be able to play golf on our Honeymoon.

Thanks again!
