Ok so my sister told me that you can skip a period on the birth control pills. She said you just skip your week of water pills and start on a new pack right after you finish the 3 weeks of birth control. I wanted to try it because I did not realize but my wedding date is going to be that time of month. Has anyone else ever tried this? If so did it work?

Re: Really personal question
Yes I have done this and it does work. My gyno even suggested it in the event that my wedding and honeymoon fall on that time of the month. She said it is perfectly safe. So, just skip that last week and start a new pack and no visitor!

It sure does, but I didn't like doing it all the time. It always made me feel bloated.

Re: Really personal question
Thanks. I actually had issues even getting the pill. I went to 3 doctors and they would not put me on the pill because I smoke. I know it's not right. but did you know you can order them from canada with no perscription?

I agree. It gives me the symptoms of PMS, but does help skip your period.

Re: Really personal question
I've done it before. It is perfectly safe. However, the last time I did it, I bled a little bit but not like I would have if I had my period. It is worth it! Just make sure you use back-up!

the reason they won't give it to you is because of risk factors!! smoking increases them...they are not doing it to be mean, but to help protect you....be careful!!

Yes--definitely be careful with it since you smoke. Talk to the doctor about other alternatives too--maybe they can put you on something else that will allow you to skip.

Re: Really personal question
that is definitely the way to skip a period, works well...
the reason they wouldn't put you on the pill isn't because its 'not right' its because its extremely DANGEROUS to smoke on the pill!! don't jeopardize your health! blood clots and PE's are no fun and can be life threatening.
ok the PSA is over now...

Re: Really personal question
Yes it works and I am doing it as well. I actually have a friend who does it constantly for the last like 3 years and loves it because she Never gets her period. I don't think that is very healthy to do but she does.

I have heard about this from so many people, and I am also doing this. I am thinking of not doing it that month though, I am thinking a few months before that way if there is a problem it wont be on the wedding day.

Re: Really personal question
I've done it to avoid AF on trips. My tip, do it a month or two before the date, also, I would recommend you get your blood pressure checked often because you smoke.

Re: Really personal question
because I get migraines in my off week, I leave my Nuvaring in for four weeks and then just switch it for the new one. Every few months I allow myself to have a 'period' because the doctor thinks I should. It's pretty common for people with issues like endometriosis and migraines like mine to do this. Personally, I don't think it's necessary to have the period every few months, as it's not really a period anyway, but I'm not a gynecologist, so what do I know. I hate it because I get migraines that week. Anyway, yes you can do that, as everyone said, but let me warn you, it doesn't always work perfectly. You may get spotting, but it's better than a period during your wedding and honeymoon.
