really trying not to be a bridezilla...

really trying not to be a bridezilla...

but FMIL just told me she ordered RD invites... i have no idea what they look like and what they say, all I know is FMIL decided that our RD starts at 7.

I know there's nothing i can do now, but I am very anal about wording, layout, design, etc and I really would have liked to have a say in them. Well, they are ordered, so I'm just going to TRY to be a laid back bride and not let it bug me.

ok, back to photoshopping more table number pix...

On the bright side, try to look at it as one less thing you have to worry about getting done!

I totally know how you feel! I am so anal about the design of things!!

I have just spent the last 30 minutes starring at my invites that came back with the text smaller than I expected (it's a little hard to read). I finally printed out the email proof they sent and measured the text with my MM ruler. I'm not crazy, it is smaller on the invite than the proof, but I know they will all think I'm nuts if I tell them it's unacceptable that the text is 1/2 mm smaller than the proof. It really does make it harder to read though, I swear!!

dont worry about it and tell them to make it how you want. the font was smaller on our proof than i wanted, so i told them to change it.... i actually wanted it more like the sample, but i ended up going through 3 proofs tweaking the layout before our invites were the way i wanted

i can see why you're mad.

But like you said, there is nothing you can do now so just focus on other wedding things. Or maybe try to find some positive in this such as one less thing for you to do. Once youre at the RD you wont even care about it.

this is a small issue...don't get me wrong, i'd be flipping too....but there are PLENTY of things I freaked about RE: my darling MIL, but none of it was worth the stress and aggrivation in the end. TRUST ME. Happy photo shopping

I completely understand. It will be ok it'll annoy you for a little while and then with the wedding so close you'll have so many other things on your mind and you'll forget about it

Re: really trying not to be a bridezilla...

mine did my favors!!!!!!! i didn't see them until about 1 week before.......and the labels..........omg.....wouldn't have looked like that if i did them. But she didn't like the way they turned out either..............and not for nothing, no one cared...it was champagne....the bottles were pretty much empty by the end of the night (except for people who actually keep them) and life went on. It was one less thing to stress me out in the long run. Try not to stress it,i'm sure it will be fine and they will look beautiful and be worded well.

If it shows up at peoples houses and says anything along the lines of:

Listen Biatches,

The RD is at 7pm. BYOB, Jeans and T's only.

If it shows up like that, we'll all fight her for you lol

Just trying to make you laugh a little....trust me, not worth it hun

I know how you feel but let it go.

Let's put it this way: Are the in-laws paying for the RD? If so, let it go. It's their party, they get to choose invites. If you are paying, well then, kick up a storm. Unfortunately we are paying for ours and I would gladly give up having to pay to have some cheesy invites with bad wording. Sorry to be so 'in your face' about it but it's true.

One less thing to do and besides, how many invites are there anyway? Is she paying for the RD? Maybe she felt it was her responsibility like the invites for the shower, you wouldn't word that.

I'm not alone in this world. There's someone like me! Just realized you have 32 days to go. Maybe it is a good thing that she handled the RD invites. One less thing to worry about in your last month.

It could be worse too, I just got this message from my FMIL, after finding out she doesn't have her list of friends ready (I am supposed to be giving the list to the calligrapher tomorrow). 'Just send yours out as planned. If I really feel I want to invite someone I can use one of another invitation. I doesn't have to be the same as yours.'

Re: really trying not to be a bridezilla...

well it could be worse, I had to bug DH to get his parents to send anything, and they sent an evite. so look on the bright side....at least it was an actual invitation!!!!

Yea I agree with the poster above....if they're paying, then just be grateful =)

Re: really trying not to be a bridezilla...

maybe she was just trying to help and didnt realize it mattered to you i totally understand though...i would like to have input on everything regardless of what it is. but itll be okay. everyone will be more excited about you getting married instead of focusing on the details of the rd invite. they just need to know the time and the place so as long as that's on there

Re: really trying not to be a bridezilla...

if they are hosting the dinner then i would expect that they would send out the invites - i dont think there is anything wrong with that b/c they are the hosts KWIM? but if they are not the hosts then i would be a little peeved - dont let it get to you - its only a piece of paper that is going to get tossed away anyway - you shouldnt let it spoil anything

ets: in our family i dont even think they send out RD invites - so i wouldnt sweat it

Re: really trying not to be a bridezilla...

Wow, I was so happy that my FMIL did the rehersal dinner, She did buy the invites with me, they were from target, cost 20 bucks, but i really didnt care because it was one less thing for me to do.

She picked the place, invited all the people, picked the time, etc. I would definately let this one go, she probably knows you have alot on your plate and she just wants to help, I am sure they look beautiful

eta: it could be worse, my FMIL didnt want to invite anyone to my shower...i had to beg her to invite a few people

Re: really trying not to be a bridezilla...

She should of ran that by you before ordering! Maybe you wanted to do something different. But now it's one less thing you have to do off your list! But still, it would of been nice to be contacted about it! Don't worry..I am sure they are beautiful!!!

Re: really trying not to be a bridezilla...

I can definately understand why you are annoyed and I think that I would be too- but maybe your FMIL was trying to be helpful and realized that you have a lot on your plate.

Re: really trying not to be a bridezilla...

Oh Jen you must be so anxious to see them! At least she didn't do what my mom and MIL did, they booked the RD while looking for places for my shower and only told DH and they booked it for the wrong time!! It was a PITA to change!!!
