I really don't like getting to personal on here but is anyone else not excited about their wedding? I'm not into any of it. As a matter of fact I would love to cancel the whole thing. I'm just not having a great year. I thought it was going to be wonderful but I can't seem to be happy about anything. A lot has to do with what's been going on with my family. Some of the other things are with me personally. My life, Job, Money...where i'm heading and what to expect with someone in my space all the time. I love my fiance and know that if he walked out of my life tomorrow I would just die. I just feel really overwelmed. I have so much going on and I'm really not into the planning or excited about my dress, the flowers, music, and I'm struggling with my invites...i need to make a program up???? what for???? I just rather watch really bad soaps then be so involved about my own wedding.
I'm really jealous of all you ladies who are getting married this year and having the time of their lives planning it.
Anyone else feels this way??? Any words of encouragement??
TIA

I'm so sorry you feel that way !!! I get discouraged about the wedding too when there are alot of other things going on. Don't stress about not being excited it will just stress you more. Maybe as time gets closer you will feel different. I wish you all the best !!!

Aw I'm kinda ina rut right now too, can't get up the energy to do anything but POST!!!!! I have many projects just lying around that need to be done. My FH moved ina couple of months ago and it is an adjustment. We also live in a very small space! It's OK to take a break. This is a VERY overwhelming experience. Just take a deep breathe and relax for a little while. Tell yourself it's OK to take the next week off from planning, w/o feeling guilty. Then try to get back into it. Things will get better. Like everything else in life, this is a phase. And soon a new one will come. Hopefully a highly wedding planning motivating phase. Good Luck and we are always here if you need us!!

Re: Really Upset...
you said it yourself, youre just overwhelmed. maybe you just need to take a little break from planning? it will only be as big of a deal or as stressful as you expect it to be. ive seen ppl plan with very little stress so it was exciting and some plan so intensely that everything is a stress, just one more thing to do. try to relax and just remind yourself of all the reasons you enjoy FH and things you guys have to look forward to. best wishes and prayerful thoughts!

You need to take some you time, even if it;s just for a few minutes each night. Maybe take a bubble bath and TRY to clear your mind. That always helps me !!

Re: Really Upset...
I look at wedding planning excitement on a continuum. On one end are people who want to do nothing but talk about their wedding, plan their wedding, etc 24/7. On the other end are people who absolutely hate the idea of planning a wedding and would rather run off to city hall. I think most people (maybe you included) fall somewhere in the middle. It's natural that when you have so much other stuff going on in your life, planning a wedding can feel like more of a burden than a pleasure. It doesn't mean that you love your FH any less, or are anticipating your wedding any less--it just means that other things in your life take precedent right now. I think you'll find that on the boards, most of the people who post ARE on the more excited end of wedding planning. There's nothing wrong with that, just as there's nothing wrong with being less thrilled about the work it entails. Don't let the peer pressure of all us crazed brides make you think you have to feel the same way!
My only recommendation is to stay organized and take things one step at a time. Also keep in mind that it's not necessary to do many things normally associated with weddings. The important thing is that you and FH are happy together, and no amount of wedding planning (or lack of planning) will change that.
Hang in there.

Thank you for putting it that way to me. I guess the other things in my life right now are just more important to me than my wedding. I appreaciate all the advice and support!!!

Re: Really Upset...
I wanted to cancel many times. In fact, me and FH actually went to our venue to ase for our money back....and got it back, and later rescheduled. My mom died last year and I felt that having a celebration was totally innapropriate. I felt sick planning the whole thing. Each time I tried on my dress, I cried miserable tears b/c I was unsure about it and I knew my Mom was the only one who would have been able to give sound advice. I also had MAJOR obstacles in accepting the fact that after 32 years of being completely on my own (I lived alone for almost 10) that I would have to share everything...... I had a lot of obstacles and felt the same way that you did. I really did. in the end, I realized that when sh**t hits the fan, life is better when you have a partner. I realized this not 3 days before my wedding.....see my album to see my face during my wedding when I realized this. And, now that I'm married.....these scary feelings did not magically go away. I still feel sketchy about sharing everything, and relinquishing total independence. Yet, I remember the feeling of being alone through major life events......and I recognize the value of a life partner. Your feelings are normal. Totally normal. Its a major life change.....but it sure is a good one......you may not notice that for a couple of months....but eventually it will come to.

Re: Really Upset...
Try to focus on the positve...marrying FH..and look at your wedding as a celebration of that! Maybe that will get you motivated & excited?
I can't wait for my wedding but i am also looking forward to the day after so i can have my 'real' life back...and not have to worry about ten thousand other things.
FH & I are ready to chuck it all and walk into city hall, between the expense (we are paying) FH still being unemployed, and his Dad...but we've come too far to do that now. As my Mom has always said 'Life is what happens when you've made other plans'...
Allow yourself to take some 'time off' from wedding planning for a few days and focus on something you really enjoy...good luck!!

Re: Really Upset...
aw I think that is a normal thing that most of us go thru at some point. While I booked vendors I was very excited and now that things are starting to pile up and we are hitting bumps in the road Ive been a little bit un-interested too. I dont want to deal with the issues and just basically want it to be over with already. But, as long as you enjoy your day and its everything that you want thats all that really matters, is the end

Re: Really Upset...
Wedding planning goes in spurts, sometimes you're excited and happy and others you're down and sad...I know I've felt the same way as you for a little while. I think it will pass. This whole thing is VERY overwhelming!!!!! XOXOXO Kitty

Re: Really Upset...
I know how you feel. Someimes everything else just piles up and the last thing i have time for is wedding stuff. But sometimes little things make me feel better. Like making wedding mixes for my ipod or looking for more scripture for the ceremony or thinking of all my family together for the first time in at least 10 years. Those are the things that make all this stress worthwhile. Once it's over FH and i have our whole lives together to remember this one special day!
You are in my prayers and I wish you well!

I read 'How to Survive the Happiest Time of Your Life,' (google it for author). It's not your typical bridal book, and it helped me a lot!

Re: Really Upset...
I've really struggled with this a lot and I've wanted to (and sometimes still do) want to cancel my wedding. I've never for a second doubted wanting to marry my FH but planning has just been a nightmare. What I can say, with 28 days to go, is that even though you might not be feeling it now, as the days get closer (and enough people bug you) you start to do things whether you're excited or not. I walked into the mall last week to buy one thing and purchased many things that I didn't even think I would find there. It's totally normal and some people just aren't as into the planning. But, you'll get through this and we're all here for you.
