Really Upset Right Now

I am using an alias so the person who this is about wont know this is me. I am SO UPSET right now. My wedding is in September. I have been looking for dresses for months but have only gone to look with my mom and my sister (my MOH). Although my mom tries she really isn't much help so i really depend upon my sister. she is the one person who will tell me the truth about how something looks even if i look fat and horrible. i trust her opinion more than my own as crazy as that sounds. As you can see i have run out of time! I have been so distraught about this. THis weekend was supposed to be the weekend i pick my dress. I should probably add that i dont live in NY so it is very hard to schedule appointments i took off this week on fri and mon just so i could make these appointments. I have about EIGHT appointments scheduled. Ofcourse, I was COUNTING on my sister to be there. Now my mom just told me that she is going to florida tomorrow and wont be back until monday. I AM SO SO UPSET...i am crying right now while i write this. She planned this trip a month ago and never said a word even last weekend when i told her i made the appointments. She is only 17 and still in high school. I have always helped her so much with so many things and this is the only thing i have ever asked her to help me with. I can't understaand why she would do this...can you? girls?

Have you tried to talk to your sister about this? Why is she going to Florida? Is it not a trip that can be postponed?

I am so sorry to hear that. She probably should have told you last weekend. You should still go this weekend with your mother and maybe one of your best friend's or relative. Then go during the week with your sister when she comes back.

I am waiting for her to get home and am planning to call her any minute. She booked her flight on jetblue so i know she can cancel it. But right now i am thinking that if she was selfish enough to do this in the first place she might not change her trip!!! Am i overreacting?

I feel very sad for you...but I'm sure your mom will help you pick the right dress, plus u will know it yourself when u found the perfect dress for you! Good Luck~ and be Happy!!

Why was she going to Florida? She would probably lose her money if she didn't go. Three or four days won't make a huge difference - anyway the vendors are not open on the weekends to order. No matter when your wedding is, they will be able to order your dress.

When is your wedding - I wouldn't have her cancel the trip - you just heard the news so let yourself calm down then you will see that it is not horrible if she goes - make a time during the week to go.

Can you go with another friend and your mom and just narrow the dresses down to a few you love then go with her next week to make the final decision? I am sorry you are going through this.

When is your wedding? Can you maybe go to all eight appointments with your mom, or a bridesmaid, and narrow your choices down a bit. This way, when your sister comes back, you can go shopping with her, and she'll only see you in the dresses that you love. I don't know, it seems a bit selfish of her, but she's young, so I say forgive her. Maybe she forgot about your 'date', or she just didn't realize how important it is to you.

my wedding is in less then five months. i dont live in ny and have a hard time taking off from work. this weekend i took off fri. and mon. and already bought my tickets...there is no way i can do it again next weekend plus i am so scared i will be too late to order a dress

She's young and probably isn't considering how important this is to you- go to plan b take your mom and go with your own instincts- or wait for her to come back and help you- they can rush the dress if you need to- just keep venting to the girls on LIW and you'll feel better- Good Luck

Ah. Didn't realize that your wedding is so close, and that you've taken off of work to come to NY. Then I say, if it means so much to you, she really should cancel her trip. Maybe she's kidding?
