Really Upset Right Now

I am using an alias so the person who this is about wont know this is me. I am SO UPSET right now. My wedding is in September. I have been looking for dresses for months but have only gone to look with my mom and my sister (my MOH). Although my mom tries she really isn't much help so i really depend upon my sister. she is the one person who will tell me the truth about how something looks even if i look fat and horrible. i trust her opinion more than my own as crazy as that sounds. As you can see i have run out of time! I have been so distraught about this. THis weekend was supposed to be the weekend i pick my dress. I should probably add that i dont live in NY so it is very hard to schedule appointments i took off this week on fri and mon just so i could make these appointments. I have about EIGHT appointments scheduled. Ofcourse, I was COUNTING on my sister to be there. Now my mom just told me that she is going to florida tomorrow and wont be back until monday. I AM SO SO UPSET...i am crying right now while i write this. She planned this trip a month ago and never said a word even last weekend when i told her i made the appointments. She is only 17 and still in high school. I have always helped her so much with so many things and this is the only thing i have ever asked her to help me with. I can't understaand why she would do this...can you? girls?

Maybe they are throwing your shower and they want to throw you off!!!!!!!!!!!!

You should still go with your mom and bring some one else who's opinion you truely value. And talk to your sister, maybe she just doesn't think that she is hurting you.

I wish tht was the case I just got off the phone with her. I never realized anyone could be so selfish My heart is broken realizing that my sister really does not give a d.... about me.

Oh, dont feel that way. She's young, and although she should know better, I'm sure she does not realize how important this is to you.

I agree- she is 17! That is what seventeen year olds do. She will feel bad about it one day. In the meantime, is there anyone else you can bring?

I know you are upset and stressed, but to be honest, I do think you are overreacting a bit & are being too hard on your sister. It sounds like other than this weekend, she has been very supportive. We all have to remember that this is OUR wedding; its simply not as important to other people, especially 17 year olds. I think you might regret it if you make too big a deal of this with your sister -- try to stay calm and make the best of the situation.

i'm so sorry to hear you're dealing with this! what does your mom say? part of me says 17 year olds have a different focus than we do, but still, she's your sister and she should understand how important this is!!

My sister is younger than I am, and we fight occasionally about stupid things, but the one huge blowout fight that we've ever had was about dress shopping. They really don't realize how special and important dress shopping is to the bride. I know nobody will ever be as wrapped up in our weddings as we are, but I think it was really selfish of your sister to book this trip. Honestly though, I think I might be a little more upset with your mom, for letting her go knowing of your plans. I really think there might be something behind it, like your shower or something.

Don't be sad!!!! I am the younger sister and I am often a witch about things. I am sure she didn't do it intentionally. Sometimes as much as people love us, it's hard for them to understand just how much things mean to us.

I think there are plenty of girls on here that would be more than happy to meet up with you on Saturday and go shopping for your dress... Just give us teh ok, tell us where and when...

oh girls...thank you so much. i am still up crying my eyes out. i dont think it is really this so much as this is the last straw. so many people have let me down during the wedding planning stages. i have been doing everything all alone and it is so hard doing it from out of state I guess i just thought that this would be so much more fun, that everyone would be so excited especially my mom and my sister. I just thought that i would have too much help! and now...i am just starting to feel like--what is wrong with me that noone wants to help me??? Am i a horrible person??? Do i just think that all these people care about me and they really dont??

Littlecat-I know my shower will be planned for sometime this summer after i move to ny.

I know I feel like that too. I have had to drag my poor mother with me everywhere because no one in my BP does anything to help. I know how you feel! I truly do. People can be selfish and do not think about the feelings of others. Where are your appointments for this weekend?
