Reason #1: The weather impacts your ability to watch TV
Reason #2: Tonight, at precisely 8PM, Direct TV suffered 'temporary' technical difficulties ONLY on channels 2, 4, 5, and 7. Therefore completely squashing my ability to watch Friends, Will & Grace and ER. I REALLY wanted to see ER tonight b/c of the premature baby story thread...
Oh, and ETA: fellow Direct TV subscribers, feel free to add your 'reasons' to hate them, too!

Don't have it anymore but when we live in Queens- it was having to go out and clean the snow off of it.

I was all set to watch Survivor tonight, and got settled in and cozy on my couch. At 8 o'clock sharp I lost my Direct TV and missed the WHOLE show.
It's back now, but it's too late now...
At least I will be able to watch ER later.
Honestly, this is the first time I ever had a problem with it, so I don't really hate it. I'm just gonna pout for a little while.

I soooo second #2 I saw the last ten min of will and grace and the first two min of friends claud do you have a phone number for them I cant find it maybe if we ALL call right now they will give us NBC west for two hrs tonite free of charge!!!

Really??! I was just complaining today to DH how I hate DISH for the same reason. WE have DISH for a month but before had DIRECTV. We had Directv for a year and a half and never had any interruptions, even through last years blizzards. Yesterday when I got home it was raining (but not pouring or anything) and Dish was out. I was pissed and regreted the change.

I have Dish Network and never ever have problems with it. I was going to switch to Direct because Dish doesn't have YES network, but now I am surely glad I didn't.! Sorry you all problems though. That stinks!

I feel your pain. I was also watching Friends and out it went. Ours went out yesterday too, right before the final question on Jeopardy. I was really bummed.
I don't have it...but my parents do...they like it...but I hate going there and using the guide...if you want to see whats on later than the time the little box that has the channel that you are watching goes black...
that really pisses me off...I like to multi-task watch soemthing and plan for later...

Erica - That doesnt happen to us. Me too - big on the TV channel multitasking. When I am watching alone, I tend to watch 3 shows at once, I am a heavy channel surfer.

FYI- I called at 11pm to ask if I can have nbcwest for two hours to watch friends and will and grace and they informed me that it is not as simple as them adding a channel and not charging me for one day, it goes through the FCC they interfere, waivers have to be signed and it could take 45 days
she also said the WHOLE UNITED STATES was out from 8-915 ish for the channels claud listed above

That stinks! I wasnt home but I have Direct TV for more than 5 years and that has never happened before. The only time it goes out is for very short periods when its a really bad storm passing outside. When we had Time Warner Cable, our cable would go out for whole days at a time!!

i love dirrect tv, the only time its gone out for weather its literally been under 10 second...
Now IO on the other hand. SOO bad, at fh's house the screen will freeze black, numerous times it will pop up with error and free the last image, all things that happens whether or not the weather is bad, and SOOOOOO many times the image will stop and you will hear the Sound, then 10 seconds later the image will jump, and itll do this for a minute or so

We never have a problem with losing signals unless it is HEAVY rain like the other night.
But does anyone else just lose their ability to change the channel, like where you have to unplug the box and replug it in and it works? The screen goes black but the signal isn't lost?! I don't get why that happens all the time and it is soooooo annoying. I channel surf on regular cable and hubby gets so mad at me that we are paying for the dish and I don't use it!!

OMG....I was devastated that I missed Friends!!! Luckily we caught most of CSI.
That would be the only reason I dislike them...the weather thing....and that 'Tech Diff.' thing....that was a first for us in 2 years....whenever the weather throws it out, it goes blank......it was definitely wierd.
