Reason #1: The weather impacts your ability to watch TV

Reason #2: Tonight, at precisely 8PM, Direct TV suffered 'temporary' technical difficulties ONLY on channels 2, 4, 5, and 7. Therefore completely squashing my ability to watch Friends, Will & Grace and ER. I REALLY wanted to see ER tonight b/c of the premature baby story thread...

Oh, and ETA: fellow Direct TV subscribers, feel free to add your 'reasons' to hate them, too!

Just a question, why didn't all you go to regular cable when the DirectTV went out? I taped the shows last night on reg. cable, I wonder if it taped?

is there such a thing anymore? I have no idea if any channels come in, what are you relying on to get the channel antenae?

We had DTV a couple of years ago. We intalled it in Nov when there were no leaves on the trees. We had it all winter... and then in the spring when the leaves grew in... WE LOST SERVICE! The only way it could have been fixed was to put it on an 8 ft pole! Ummm no thanks! No 8 ft pole is sitting on the top of my house!
We have IO now.

Stef: Yes, we needed cable to have Directv or don't we?! I am not sure now. My father works at Cablevision and we all get it for free (I live in the same house, just in an apt above them) and I was under the impression I needed regular cable too!?

Stacey, you do not need cable to have Direct TV! The only cable that is coming into our house is for our cable modem...other than that, the TV is only hooked up to the satellite.

I wonder if last night's disturbance was due to the solar showers that have been happening within the past week? I only wonder this b/c someone said that DISH Network was not working either.

Dish was working for me last night. It was the night before that was the pain in by ARSE.

I had the same problems with the DISH but partly I think because the A$$ that installed it didn't do it right. I had problems from Day 1.

I now have DirectTV and have only had a problem maybe twice. Once they came out & moved the dish to get a better signal. No problems since!!!!!

I had no problem last night!
