So I received a letter from my photographer just reminding us to make a final appt and final payment arrangements.
At the end of the letter it says this:
'We would like to make you aware that your photographer's day can be long and exerting. We recommend you arrange with your caterer to have a meal provided for your photographer, videographer and 2 assistants.'
I am shocked they wrote this... I was considering how I was going to handle food for the vendors. It is really tough...I have to pay full price for them which means with photo and band thats an extra 2k. I dont know what we are going to do.

Re: Received a letter from Photographer....
I had the same photographer as Jordon. They said up front they would not be taking a break and if they did they would bring there own food. I still arranged for a plate to be made for them. You hall should offer half off for vendors.

Re: Received a letter from Photographer....
I agree with all of you...they do need to eat.
However, the place I am getting married is a country club...not a hall...so they have a different view on things. In order to host an affair there you have to be a member or sponsored by one...b/c of this there is no negotiating. The price is the price...nothing more nothing less! They did tell me that most people who host affairs do not feed the vendors...I dunno....
Its tough...we are talking 15 people extra...its a HUGE expense.

Re: Received a letter from Photographer....
We ended up w. four no shows so the reception hall let us use those 4 meals towards the price of the vendor meals. We had 8 vendors to feed, since the vendor meals are 1/2 price we did not pay any additional cost. I think this is common, since you give final payment based on your final headcount-if any people dont show up, you paid for them anyway, so give those meals to the vendors.
You def. want to feed photographers and assistants. I think our assistants worked harder than the photographer, running around, straightening dress, lighting etc.

ooh- that is tough. maybe you can do something with the coctail hour food. I know you said they don't really negotiate, but maybe they can make up a platter with the leftover coctail hour food.
they really should know if they are not getting a meal, but what do you say?, ' stuff your face at the coctail hour, b/c that's all your getting!'
Could you feed the photographers & not the band, since like someone said they aren't there as long?

Would your country club have a problem with you ordering food from outside to serve your vendors? Something inexpensive like a hero and some salads?

I like that...stuff your faces...cause this it is guys...he he he....
That is actually something we were considering...just giving meals to the photo & video guys and letting the band members know they are welcome to make plates for themselves from the cocktail hour.
Hmmm...we have some things to sort out...thanks for all your suggestions.

Most people DO feed their vendors. I honestly can't think of one single bride that has come and gone on here that did not feed their vendors. I understand that it is expensive, because I paid for meals for all of my vendors, but these people are working hard for you all day.
Are you sure you will hit your minimum? A lot of people end up including their vendors in their headcount because they come up a little short right before the wedding.

You shuld not have to pay full price. After all - they aren't drinking alcohol (let's hope) so that is a huge portion of the per person charge.
I'd try to negotiate something.
The photographer and video people do deserve a decent meal since they are with you for so long. As far as the band goes - mine says they do not require a meal but then said a sandwich would be nice. I agree. If we can't let them eat at the cocktail hour - we will have the club get them sandwiches.
If the place has another restaurant going at the same time - they should be able to order from the regular men (and you pay for just that)

Re: Received a letter from Photographer....
My photographer and videographer each had an assistant and they both worked so hard. And I had my MC and DJ to fee too. Usually during the coctail hour, your DJ is setting up and your photographer is busy taking pictures so I wouldn't count on feeding them at your cocktail hour.

Re: Received a letter from Photographer....
You need to feed your band- most parties are five hours- add time for travel- and getting to the hall to set up early and then the trip home and that's about 6 1/2-8 hours without anything to eat.
that's too long in my opinion.

agree, they are working and setting up for a while... i wouldnt want any of their stomachs to start rumbling because i didnt feed them... i just look at it as part of the cost of having a dj, photographer, video person..

recently a friend of a friend relayed a story of how her photographer was acting reeeeaallly weird the day of the wedding.
