Received a letter from Photographer....

Received a letter from Photographer....

So I received a letter from my photographer just reminding us to make a final appt and final payment arrangements.

At the end of the letter it says this:

'We would like to make you aware that your photographer's day can be long and exerting. We recommend you arrange with your caterer to have a meal provided for your photographer, videographer and 2 assistants.'

I am shocked they wrote this... I was considering how I was going to handle food for the vendors. It is really tough...I have to pay full price for them which means with photo and band thats an extra 2k.
I dont know what we are going to do.

your hall doesn't give u half off on vendor plates?...........................either way that was a bit tackyof them to write it in a letter

eta - you didn't plan on feeding them?

Some places will give a reduced rate for your vendors. They often provide a simple meal than what your guests get like a pasta.

Call your CH and see what they will do for your vendors especially if you will have a lot of them.

Thats tough but I don't see how you could not feed them. It is a long day and you don't want them to be hungry. It could effect the service they are providing. I would be grumpy if I didn't eat all day!

I would call you catering manager and try to work something out with them.

We are using them too so I just got the same letter.

It didn't bother me at all though because they are with you all day long, I wouldn't even consider not feeding them.

I dont want hungry photographers taking it out on my pics!

But I agree, it definitly s*cks to add on the cost.

Or let them eat during the coktail hour, then you do not have to pay for a plate. My hall offers 1/2 price for vendors which I plan on paying for the Photographer, Videographer and Dj's to eat.

Def. ask b/c my vendors are 50% off price and it was in the contract for the photographer that I orig. went to meet ...I think that's standard if they are working from 8 am until late as in my particular case - they have to have something to eat!

Call your venue and ask...

like everybody else said, your hall should be doing half price after for vendors (make sure min ppl is meet)

that is common i believe

no I knew I was going to have to feed some people - band, video, photographers (although my photographer told me I will only have to feed one of them)

My parents are taking care of all of that but he spoke to the club and they made some sort arrangement that he was very happy with where they get the full meal the guests are getting if they want it.

I would talk to your club they might be able to make some sort of arrangments -

odd letter to get after the fact, IMO. as a vendor i would have included this as part of the original contract, as it comes off a little snide.

perhaps they got the feeling you did not intend to feed them? you definitely should. right off the bat i told my photographer 'you are going to love the food, it's the reason we booked the place'. our hall feeds vendors at 1/2 price, but i would have had no problem paying full, like someone said in a previous post somewhere 'it's a perk for them as a vendor'...

Yes you should feed them and you probably already knew that so they didn't have to write it in a letter. What I would have a MAJOR problem with is the two assistants!! Who the heck are they? Unless they told you they were bringing 2 assistants with them when you signed you should question them on that because I've seen it where some vendors use a wedding they are working as an excuse to bring a DATE!!!

i think some people don't know..i didn't know untill it was explained to me. kinda make sense since i know the people didn't eat cause they were with us all day. i don't think is anything wrong with the reminder

I would be very pissed if they has sent me one of the letters. I am sorry to hear that you had to put up with that.

I think it should have been mentioned to begin with, but I see no problem in a reminder at your last payment letter.

Some brides forget or are so busy vendor meals are way low on their list (like me!) so it's nice to sorta 'buzz' you to remember to feed them.

Feeding them is part of the deal as far as I consider it.

Odd that your hall charges full price.

I don't understand?

I thought most halls 'make' you pay for your vendors, but at a discounted rate.

I know, it's a lot of money...I we had around 15-18 people who were vendors to pay for, but we didn't have to pay the full amount for a place setting, it was only 1/4 I think.

I would check with the place you are having the wedding to see if you pay full price for vendors.

It didn't occur to me until the banquet manager said it , but that was early on.
ours are 1/2 price, but if it wasn't I would still feed them , but if the budget was really tight, I would defitenly have thought twice about hiring a 2nd photographer & an assistant & would have gone with a dj or smaller band.
The way I look at it, the band, photographers, etc, don't add up to the # of people that will not come, so it kind of balances out.
Unless of course, you invited 125, knowing you could only afford 100 to show up. . .

I agree with Xelindrya.
I see nothing wrong with a reminder, we've got alot going on and these things can slip our minds. IMO, vendors should eat. I wouldn't want to work on an empty stomach.

I also find it strange that your hall won't offer a discount though.

Ours mentioned in our contract that they will not be taking a break to eat.
