Received a phone call that I WON a trip, Is it a SCAM???

This woman called me claiming that my name was chosen and I won a 3 days 2 nights ALL INCLUSIVE trip to either Bahamas, Dominician Republic or Mexico. The only thing I need to pay for is airfare. She said it never expires so I may use it anytime and it's transferable (if I decide to give it to someone else.) Now the catch was that she just needs about an hour of my time to look at her companies products which is stemware, flatware and give her my opinion. She can either come to my home or I can go to her office. Now if I won a trip why do I have to look at her products. There shouldn't be a catch. Do you think this is a scam? It sounded real. What should I do? I told her I would get back to her.

THere are TONS of these 'free vacations' around. Usually they are scams, but there a few legitimate ones. The presentation will use extensive scare tactics, ie any other pans/glasses/knives/cookware will care some scary disease, ruin your life etc.

The 'vacation' is usually only good during random parts of the week, or off months. You may stay in substandard locations, or not what they promised.

Do your research, ask to speak to others who actually took the vacation.

i got the same call, i pretty much said don't call me, i'll call you. the girl i spoke with was a little annoyed that i didn't act as surprised as i should have. i don't necessarily think its a scam, but its a little shady. just remember from now on, when you go to bridal expos - never give out your phone number, any phone number. not a work number or cell number or anything. vendors will harrass you day and night.

It's not a scam, nor is it a contest. it's a legitimate marketing strategy. If you go in and look at their cookware, you WILL get the trip. All it is is 2 hotel nights and some other stuff. I made the appointment but I never went. Lots of brides from LIW have gonae and gotten the trip...but it's just 2 hotel nights and it has blackiut dates and i think it costs $25 booking fee.

Scam! I signed up to 'win' a car at the Outlets in PA and I have been getting calls like everyday saying I 'won' a trip and an internet shopping spree (but really they want me to come hear about their timeshares - blah!)

I looked the company up online and read about how one guy went to their 'hour' long seminar on timeshares and they wouldn't let him leave for 4 hours cause he wouldn't buy anything - eek!

I don't know, I have a tendency not to trust these things. I think my brother won one of them once, and it was actually legit. He is usually much more naive than me when it comes to these things, so he gets burnt sometimes, but I think that one was actually real. He went on the trip.
