Definitely! But not the whole bridal party, just us and our parents.

we did it & honestly ladies - it goes pretty quick!! you are so overwhelmed by seeing everyone & you even get to say hi to ppl who you didnt know were going to show up to the church!!

a lot of girls are anti receiving lines, but i say DO IT! its really not bad at all!

Yes, we have people that can't attend the wedding that said they are going to be at the church. I don't want to miss seeing them.

Also, we have a 2+ hour gap between the church and cocktail hour. I figured we could waste time!

no because we got married at the hall. So we went table to table and it worked out very well!

we originally were going to at the church (just us and the parents)...but i dont think we're allowed to so i need to call and confirm.

if u have extra time and think people are going to be at the church and not the reception (or u dont think ull have time to go around during ch/dinner to the tables) then perhaps do it.

my cousins went by quick as well and i think there were like 100+ people at the church...everyone wanted to get out...i believe they were done in about 10-15 min.

I'm rying to decide. We have a short time span between our ceremony and reception so there may not be a lot of time for pictures. If thats the case, I dont think I will be able to .

Re: receiving line???

I did...we had too many people in our bridal party (32) to keep everyone on a line so the receiving line consisted of us, my parents and Dh's parents.

Re: receiving line???

we did not for 2 reasons, our church was a hike from our RH and we wanted to be at the RH with plenty of time for pics and be a part of the CH....second, we really just did not want it....for me personally, i was so happy after church and so into the moment that i am glad with the choice b/c and i dont want to seem ungrateful, but there were def people at church who i did not totally want to spend a few minutes chatting with each...., not right at that moment anyway, but i did at CH

Re: receiving line???

WE did, and like others have said it REALLY goes by so quick, not even 10 mins. WE didnt do the whole bp, just dh and I, plus our parents. People just say Congratulations, maybe one other thing, give you a huge and they move along. ITs done right by the door before the exit, so they keep it moving so they dont hold others up. It was great actually, bc i was on such a high after the ceremony and having all these ppl come up to you so happy congratulating you was so nice.

I had a large gap between ceremony and RH so i really didnt have to rush. Ceremony ended at 3pm, and the places we went to take pics was 10 mins away from the church and on timeline for day of DOC scheduled pics from 4pm to-6:15. CH didnt start until 7:30pm and even with taking pics for 2 hours in queens, our church was in queens too and RH in LI, we still got to the RH early, we got there around 7pm maybe even a little bit before 7pm so had time to relax for a bit in the bridal suite

Another real good reason to do a receiving line especially if its at a church is bc you might have some people who are only attending the ceremony, so yeah i know girls say that they will say hello to guests at the reception but some ppl who attended your ceremony might not be at the reception so its nice to thank them for coming.

I am not sure if this is done with a ceremony at the RH, I will have to look into this.

from what i've heard, it usually is not done when ceremony is at the RH. Besides the CH is RIGHT after the ceremony so thats why you really don't have to bc youre going to say your hello's right after the ceremony regardless. Although it might be good to do it this way bc you can say your hello's and then at CH just hang out and enjoy. I do remember it seeing done at 1 wedding i went to when ceremony was at the RH

Re: receiving line???

I thought the 'norm' is for the bride not to be seen at the CH? It would make sense though, what you said, and would make it easier to do all the hi's and thank yous during the CH.

actually if you look on the boards, you'll see more girls attend their CH than girls who do not. I didnt attend my CH but i kinda wish i did so i would've been able to get my hello's out of the way there. But also was ok bc i got to just sit in the bridal suite and eat, i probably wouldnt have been able to if i went to CH, and didnt really eat the rest of the night.

FH and I just talked about the CH, he said that we should go the CH. Maybe we will do a little of both.
