Are you doing a receiving line? I know it's a good way to make sure you say hi to everyone but I feel like it takes up a lot of time. I'm also having the ceremony at the RH so immediately after, the CH starts. I feel like by the time the receiving line is done, the CH would be over.

Re: Receiving line?
I'm having one, but I have a lot of time in between my ceremony and CH. So I figure it'll be a good way to kill some extra time. This way I can also spend less time running around to say hi to everyone during the reception.

Re: Receiving line?
I agree with how the CH will be over by the time it starts... I am doing the same with the ceremony being at the RH.
Maybe dont do one since you are already there and just greet everyone at the ch?
Good question though I will be looking at the responses!

Re: Receiving line?
not doing one...I'm taking my photos during the CH so a receiving line would just take away from my picture time.

Re: Receiving line?
Since we are getting marry at the RH, we will talk to all the elderly at the CH and everyone else on the dance floor.

Re: Receiving line?
I have been worried about this, we are having the ceremony at the RH and not seeing each other before which means we are going to have pics during CH. I have no idea how to work this out.

Re: Receiving line?
I'm torn with this one. I want to try and make my CH which is going to be hard because the church is at 11:30 and CH is at 1...and we have pictures. but I also would like to get the formalities and hello's out of the way early on so I can really enjoy the reception.

Re: Receiving line?
If we do a recieving line it will consist of just the two of us...His cousins did that, and lord knows we have to do what they did, so we will more than likely do that...This way it is only us two, give someone a kiss and move along to the next person. We plan on going to our CH so we can do more formal hello's there...

Re: Receiving line?
I will probably do one at the church but I am sure not everyone will show up there. I am planning on going around to all the tables at the RH to say hi to everyone

Re: Receiving line?
Haven't really thought about this, I guess because I thought it was standard...?? Our church is a 3:30 w/ a mass (so ending around 4:30), then the reception starts at 6:30...and we want to take pictures in those 2 hrs or so (20 min drive to the reception) so we can take full advatange of the cocktail hour. Might bypass the receiving line at the church and maybe just go around to each table at the reception...but not sure. Hmm...something to think about

I'm doing a receiving line at the church...it's my biggest concern though b/c if it doesn't move quickly enough I will miss most of my CH taking pics....

Re: Receiving line?
I personally really detest receiving lines and am absolutely not doing one. i find it so uncomfortable. We plan on going around at the cocktail party to say hello to everyone.
