Receiving line?

Our Mass is at 2pm and there's a 3:30pm wedding after ours is over. It's not our parish, but I've been assuming we'll still be doing pictures in the church after and I wouldn't want to be rushed. Also, our wedding is on a Thursday. Granted, it's a holiday weekend, but I'm still not anticipating a huge turnout at the church outside of family and close friends.

So, do you think there'd be time after to do a receiving line, pictures, and the whole thing where everybody waits for you to come out of the church after so they can throw/blow stuff at you?

I think you'll have time. Wait you're doing a full mass or a ceremony? If you're doing a full mass you won't have time.

I'm sure they will have it coordinated in a way that you're able to do that..at least I hope

Receiving line?

I dunno how you feel about not doing one at all, but my sister didn't do one because she had limited time in between church and reception. It worked out great- we plan on doing the same thing at our wedding!

Receiving line?

I don't really have my heart set on a receiving line, especially since it's most likely going to be that everyone who is coming to the church will also be at the reception. I figured if there would be time, we'd do one, especially since we have soooooo much time between church and reception.

Receiving line?

I was told to estimate anywhere from 30-45 minutes for 125 guests for a receiving line but I think they go much faster than that. We are skipping it entirely so that we have enough time to get pics and we will be at our cocktail hour so we'll make our rounds then.

I honestly don't think you'll have enough time due to the wedding after yours. Even if your mass ends at 2:45, I'm not sure how soon the Church would need you to leave to set up for the next ceremony.

I'm not doing one. At first I was worried that FMIL wouldn't like that but when I asked her she was ok was it. She said as long as you say thank you to the people that came to the church but weren't invited to the reception (i.e., her coworkers) we would be fine.

Re: Receiving line?

crashing.. i dont think you will have enough time to do all of that unfortunately. if there is a wedding that soon after yours, they are going to want you out of the church right away since people will start arriving probably at 3-3:15 for the wedding after yours.

a full mass runs about an hour... ours was just over an hour. we had about 75 people at the church and the receiving line took 20-30 mins. i think your best bet is to skip the receiving line at the church and maybe instead just greet people at cocktail hour. that way you can at least try and take some pics at the church and have the exit.

Shoot for a ceremony instead of a mass and you should def have time!
