So I think I am going to do a receiving line so that I be sure to see ervyone that comes. Now I really don't want this to take up too much time so I was thinking of just having me and my fiance in the line to greet and thank people. Is that acceptable, I honestly don't think anyone in the bridal party will care or the parents.
Then when we come out of the church I will probably have bubbles for everyone. Do I have someone pass these out as everyone is coming off the receiving line out of the church. I just want to be sure everything goes smoothly.
Also I don't have a ton of time between ceremony and cocktail hour. Ceremony is at 4 probably will end about 4:30-4:45. Cocktail hour starts at 6 and we will need to take pics inbetween. But then that being said should I just cut out the receiving line? What is everyone else doing?? Thanks

Re: Receiving line??? (long sorry)
we'll be doing a receiving line - me, FH and parents only. we anticipate ~100 guests so it shouldn't take up too much time. our ceremony starts at 2:00, CH at 4:00 with a 30-40 minute drive in between... posed pictures for us will be at the church, 15 minutes max!

We want to do the receiving line with just us also..possibly our parents, we haven't decided. I don't think the BP needs to be a part and if your parents don't care then they don't have to do it either

we did the receiving line with just us and the parents, the bridal party was across from us so if anyone wanted to see them they could. The line went pretty quick

I think you should do the receiving line. That's what we are doing so that I know I have greeted all my guests and won't feel guilty when I am too busy partying on the dance floor at the reception to go from table to table.
I think just you and your new husband is sufficient. No one ever knows what to say to the bridal party or parents unless they know them personally. Gives them an opportunity to relax and say hi to people they know separetly.
I'd do the bubbles before since people will be in more of a line and organized. Once they get outside it gets somewhat chaotic.
Just my two cents!
Good luck!

Re: Receiving line??? (long sorry)
My DH & I were against the receiving line only because we wanted to attend our cocktail hour. But, the day of the wedding we were so ahead of schedule that we had one. It was so WORTH IT! I liked being able to say hello and thank you to everyone.
I'd say do it...

Re: Receiving line??? (long sorry)
Not only is that acceptable it's encouraged to just have the bride and groom if you're going to do a receiving line. Our wedding party was standign on the other side. That way people didn't feel obliged to stop and talk to them and hold others up.
As for not having one...it will be odd because then where will you go so everyone else can come out and blow bubbles at you? You could go back up a side aisle with the photographer and take pictures and then come back and be bubbled. Talk to your photographer and your officiant and see what they can recommend.

and I recommend taking pictures before, if possible. I will always regret having missed my cocktail hour the first time around -- won't happen again!!

I invited the WHOLE world to the church so I know my receiving line is going to be long. I'm trying not to think about it though. It's just going to be me, FH, & parents. Bridal party will be on the other side. It's going to be interesting.
