Recently engaged, now what?

Recently engaged, now what?

I was just engaged in April and we are planning for a December wedding. I am panicking a little bit, what do I do first. We want to keep it small with just our close family and friends.

I agree. Find a budget then come on here and we can tell you where to start looking. You might be able to get some great deals because you are doing this last minute. Good luck and we are here for you.

I agree with Hallslady, determine a budget first and then go shopping around at RH's. Once the RH is booked then do the dj/photographer. Also try to envision what you want, like color schemes and that sought of stuff.

I think you are ok, time-wise. December is still a long way out.

Like the other ladies said, start by looking for an RH, but make sure you have an approximate head count of all that you would be inviting. That will help you narrow down where to look at. There are lots of lovely small venues in both Suffolk and Nassau (presuming you are looking on the Island). Figure out if you want to get married at the hall or at a church/synagogue. If you are getting married at a separate location make sure you can get the date you want before you sign your contract for the hall. Once you've got those two things nailed down, get your dress, your girls dresses ordered. I'd say next most important would be photographer, then dj, then limo. Hall will be the most important out of all your non-religious vendors though b/c you will be competing against office Christmas parties.

We had our reception at Danfords in Pt. Jeff, and it was perfect for our smaller wedding. We ended up having around 90 guests and it was just perfect. Feel free to FM if you need anything. We had lots of December brides in 2007 and we're all around and willing to help!

Def work up a guest list. That will def help when trying to find a place and a room. Maybe start thinking of colors youd want too.

Re: Recently engaged, now what?

Don't worry. I just started planning my wedding for Sept/Oct of this year. Budget and guest list are first so you know what you need in a RH. I also know that it sometimes takes a while to get a wedding dress in ( I still haven't found one yet) so if you are picky you might want to do that early. I'll let you know what comes next when I get there. Everything else will fall into place.

Congratulations and good luck!
