Re: Reception/Sunset Harbour in East Patchogue
A close friend of mine had 35 people at the George Washington Manor for her wedding. The food was great (what she told me), and they had a nice private room, on Saturday night.Irish Coffee Pub has great food too.
Do you want a dance floor or just a nice meal?

Not sure if you'd like this idea, but why not have a dinner cruise type wedding? check it out.. they usualy include the dj and food and what not..and it'll be something different?! I went looking for when I had my e-party and I was quoted at like 50 bucks a person!

Re: Reception
I went to the Irish Coffee Pub. I did not get the impression that my wedding of 50 would get the full attention, the manager there (steven) told me they would only have chairs for 30 of my guests for the ceremony and while they were getting something to drink they would move my chairs for the cocktail hour and as that winded down they would then move the chairs into the reception area. it did not seem very professional and all of that for $80 a person on a Sat afternoon
. I also went to the Huntington Townhouse. I must say the place was gorgeous. A little chaotic, but looks lovely...Does anyone else have any suggestions. I am leaning towards Sunset Harbour.

Re: Reception
I thought the cruise idea would be cool and looking into some restaurants might be a good idea, some of them have enough room to accomodate 50 people. You really need to go with something that you like and that fits your budget. Go to the place yourself and see if they'll let you try the food before you book, I know some places let you do this. Definitely rule it out yourself before you judge it based on other people's opinions.

Re: Reception
Check out Fire Island Ferries, I know they have the boat called the 'Evening Star' that does weddings and dinner cruises. I used to work in a marina on Fire Island and I would see it all the time. I actually went on it once too and I really had a nice time. I have no idea what they charge though. I think you can even do the ceremony on the boat as well, but double check with them on that. The link to their web site is Fire Island Ferries

Re: Reception
We had our engagement party at Cucina Bay on the Water in Merrick. This is the first year they plan to open all winter (I think they used to close down around December). Tony & Carolann were great, the food was excellent. We did a brunch, but they are great with food, and could probably do a wedding. We also looked at boats - a lot of them (from Manhattan to LI). We met Anthony from Nautical Princess in Freeport. They were offering some nice deals for the off season. The menu looks good, but we had too many people. These boats are big enough that you shouldn't be bouncing around. With a reasonably sized party, everyone could be indoors.
Good luck

How about CrystalBrook in East Meadow, they have complete wedding packages for about 9,000. It is worth a try.

I heard the Huntington Town house is in bankruptcy, you might want to check it out thru the BBB first.I am not too sure.

Re: Reception
I just want to thank you all for your help. Sunset Harbour and Danfords are on the top of my list. I called John Anthony's and was told the had a minimum guarentee of 100. Has anyone had a smaller party there. She sounded like she was trying to rush me off the phone! I know everyone raves about how great they are. I was dissapointed when i heard the minimum. We are trying to stay under 65 people.

Re: Reception
Check out Sans Souci in Sea Cliff - Their max is about 150 (comfortably) - They are really reasonable and I'm sure they'd work with you. It is an old mansion right on the water - really beautiful and the food is amazing.
