Reception
I am looking to hold a wedding in March of 2004 for about 50 people. Does anyone know of a place for about $50 a person. I am going to look at La Grange Inn. Has anyone been there for a wedding.

Re: Reception
You can try the Millerage Carriage House. That price would be for off-season, off-day like a Sunday afternoon in March.

My wedding in also in 2004 (Sept.). I booked the Manor East. I love it!! They do have packages for around $50 per person. You can go and look now and if you really love it, you can also booked it now.

Re: Reception
I have been to a shower at LaGrange and was unimpressed. The food was ehh. I had a bug in my punch. The penne sauce tasted like the tin can it came out of.

Re: Reception
You can try Irish Coffee House, I heard they are excellent and very resonable prices. Also West Sayville Country Club is very nice but I think they are $65.00 pp - well worth it! Brentwood Country Club also. Happy Planning!

Re: Reception
I second the West Sayville Country Club, I used to waitress there while I was in college. They are extremely reasonable, I'm sure they could work something out with you for $50pp. The food is really good for the price and the decor is charming and cozy. Good Luck!

Re: Reception
Thank you for the suggestions. I went today and looked at the La Grange Inn. For the price there was not that much of a selection and I was not impressed wit the rooms. i went to Sunset Harbour in East Patchogue for $50 to $60 there was a wide selection. Has any one had any experience there or with the Middle Island Country Club?

Re: Reception
Hi Daisy - I am actually having my reception there next July and a friend of mine (katebug) who posts on the board is also using Sunset Harbour. I worked with Andy and he has been nothing but pleasure to work with (let's hope it stays that way!)I checked out other places before booking there, but what sold me was the location on the water, the wide selection of food choices, and the price! Let me know if I can answer any questions for you.

Re: Reception
HELP!!!!!!!It seems like all the places we look at have a
minimum of 75-100 people. Does any one know of places that do 50. I am considering Sunset Harbour, but would like to know of a few more places.
Also does anyone know about Villa Lombardi's. I heard the food was great! I was wondering if they do smaller parties or what the cost would be

Re: Reception
Two that I know about are the George Washington Manor (Roslyn area) and the Three Village Inn (Stony Brook) Both my parents remarried and they had nice small recptions at these places..about 50...they were both very intimate and quaint...Best of Luck!

Re: Reception
i don't mean to offend anyone who has booked the sunset harbor---i recently attended a wedding there and the place was pretty --i liked the room but the food/dessert/drinks /cocktail hour etc were not good at all--remember this is my opinion (& the people i sat with and my fiance!)--i hate posting negative things but i feel that if you were looking at it i wanted to tell u my experience---i am actually running out right now but will finish this post later:)ok i'm back-----i have been to weddings at villa, east wind, john anthonys, marina del ray, irish coffee pub for a holiday dinner, La Grange, imperial manor (which might be a good choice to check out too) etc. yo get my point-i have a lot to compare sunset harbor to...and the food doesn't compare at all---everything i went to eat--didn't taste as good as it looked---we returned (myself and a friend) every pina colada/strawberry daquari drink we had and finally gave up on trying to get a good one!......the waitstaff was good but what i also didn't like was during the dessert and cake time---we all had to go up to get cake ourselves and the dessert wasn't brought to the table (i don't know if this was a decision made by my friend or not)---but the pastries tasted awful and the cake wasn't so good either- also the people serving you were in regular clothes (some of them, not all)...i don't know how many rooms they have there but, the bar (if you wanted to walk up and get a drink for yourself) was far away......i did enjoy myself at the wedding b/c the dj was good and everyone danced--but the other things you looked forward to at a wedding were very disappointing----and one last thing--this happened to more than one person during cocktail hour--we (they ) would get up and leave their plate to get a drink and when they got back their plate would be gone (mind you the plates did not look like the person was done!)...just a bad experience for me---if you are getting married there -just make sure about a few of the things i posted don't happen to you during your day-----i hope i wasn't too harsh!

Re: Reception
Many have already mentioned Irish Coffee Pub, and I give a strong vote for them as well. They have several rooms of various sizes to accomodate parties of different sizes. We had our Rehearsal Dinner there last year, and it couldn't have been better. We had the Dublin Court. While we did initially have problems trying to book them .. I wanted a private room for a small party of 18 on a Friday night .. I called again and spoke directly to the Banquet Manager, who I was later told was the owner, and he was extremely helpful and accomodating. I believe his name was Frank. Newla was who we had troubles with.
The food is great and the service was wonderful. Can't really say what the prices are for weddings, though.

Re: Reception
Maybe you can look into some smaller resturants as well. We went to a party at a resturant in Port Washington called DiMaggios. The food was out of this world, and the place is beautiful. I am not sure what the prices were, but it was big enough for 50 and I think you could also have a dj and dance floor. A lot of resturants have good prices, great food, and are really pretty

Re: Reception/Sunset Harbour in East Patchogue
I went to a engagement party at Sunset Harbour. I had actually liked the food there. I liked that the DJ was not actually on the dance floor. I did not get to see what it was like during the day because it was February and at night. It was a nice place inside though.
