Reception at 8 - Catholic Church?

Reception at 8 - Catholic Church?

Hi, we are having our reception at 8:00 but our Catholic Church only does ceremonies latest at 2:30 on Saturday's. We feel like that is too much of a time gap between the ceremony and reception. Does anybody know any other Catholic Churches that do later ceremonies on Saturday's?
TIA!!!

My ceremony is at 3. That's the latest they do it at my church. I asked them for the latest time slot, and they told me 3pm. My CH starts at 7:30, and the RH is only about a half hour from the church. But I figure that'll give us the opportunity to go elsewhere in between to take pics and then FH and I can still go to our CH.

Most churches do a ceremony at the latest 3 or 3:30....that's bc they have Saturday night masses.

Yep, mass is usually at 5. There are some churches that only do mass in the morning, so was hoping someone knew of any. I feel bad making the guests wait a few hours in between. Thanks.

We found a church that will do a 3:30 ceremony. Our original church was also willing to do a ceremony after their 5 pm mass, but the logistics didn't work for us. Can't hurt to ask about exceptions.

I had a VERY difficult time finding churches who would marry non-parishnors. St. Rose of Lima and Cure of Ars are the only two out of about 20 that would agree to marry us. Good luck!

Is the church in your area?

The reason why i ask this is because the time gap might actually be very nice to have.

If your church is nearby and most of the guests are from the area they can go to the church in regular attire. Then after the ceremony you and the BP will be off to take some pics... while the guests all go home to get ready. Then by the time your pics are done and the guests are ready and arriving to the venue, it will be CH time... so you can attend your CH and not have to worry about missing it because of pictures. I hear a lot of brides that are upset because they didn't have enough time between the end of the ceremony and the beginning of CH for pictures so they can't attend the CH.

My wedding is on a Fri. Our ceremony is at 3 and the reception starts at 7:30. it's slightly less of a gap than yours would be... but not too much. My CH is also 1.5 hours followed by a 4 hour reception party. I'm not attending my CH, instead the BP will have their own private party upstairs in the bridal suite (we have lots of space!!!!).... but we also have plenty of time for pics inbetween so I actually get to relax and party during CH and I'm sooo thrilled to be able to do that.

I know each situation is different. But I thought this might help you.

Thanks everyone for their reply. IrishCro, you have FM. Kerri, thanks for the response. My family is from Brooklyn and his is from LI, so it wouldn't be too plausible to have people come for the ceremony in regular clothes and then go back home and then meet us at the reception. I figure if we had a 5:00 ceremony and would probably be done by 6 with everyone including the receiving line, it would give us plenty of time for pictures and not miss the cocktail hour.

Thanks everyone for their input. If anybody else knows of Catholic Churches with later Saturday ceremonies, please let me know. TIA!!!
