Reception at the Colonial Briar fox room at fox hollow?
Hey has anyone had a wedding reception at the colonial briar fox room? I am having my cocktail hour at the winter garden with the reception at the colonial. I am about to put my deposit tonight and am nervous. If anyone has pictures of their reception at the briar fox room so i can see it set up that would be great! I amhaving about 150-170 guests, I asked about the garden terrance room and they told me it was only for wedding parties larger then 170...is this true? They also had none of the dates I wanted, and I read somewhere that they would refuse to give you a date thinking they can make more money with a larger party..any advice ? is this true? any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

My advice is if you are questioning your decision then keep looking. Go with your gut. When you find the right place you wont have any hesitation.

we def love the place..a big seller was the Inn next door..which is perfect for out of town guests. We were originally looking at manhattan but it was crazy expensive! I'm getting 115.00p/p for a saturday night in sept 25 2010 is that a good price?

I am in that room as well, and we are paying 135 a head. On a saturday night, on memorial day weekend.

Hmmm.
I love the Fox Hollow but I think $115 for a Saturday night is high! I'm paying $75 for a Friday and I'm sure I could have gotten the Saturday in the 90 range.
Push on the price. That's my advice. You may kick yourself for paying that much!
As far as the set up of the room- it's very nice once it's set up, there are lots of photos in various Brides Reviews but the ceilings in that room are low. Read the Fox Hollow thread here for more details.
Good luck and please push on that price. I'm sure they can do better! That being said, the Fox is wonderful and you'll love it...just get the right price
Good luck!

I am in that room too and have concerns about it as well. I have asked the same questions and have heard only good things about that room. I am starting to love it.
I am getting married in January...That Fireplace sold me! I am going to try to light that room with as much natural light as I can. I think it will look so romantic and intimate.
And I just loved the WGP for our cocktail hour. That's the other thing...if you want the WGP for your cocktail hour then they will give you the Briar Fox for your reception.
Have you considered another month? We originally wanted October, but it was out of our price range. When I saw the rooms I instantly thought Winter Wonderland Wedding!! And they gave us a great price...plus the hotel is cheaper and they give you a free room in the winter months.
Don't rush into anything either...unless that date is set in stone. Think about it, go look at it again and see what else they can do for you with price and what they'll 'throw in'.
Good luck! And go with your heart.

Thank you all so much! wow I love this website! its great to know that you can talk to other brides who are having weddings at the same place! I finally put my deposit down tonight and told them about my concerns..they were very helpful and gave me a venecian table with an extra half hour...fyi the venecian table comes with a choclate fountain so don't pay extra for it! They tried including a seafood boat with my price but I opted for the venecian. I'm more calm and now certain...I cannot wait for my wedding and this place is perfect for all seasons! so what ever anyone chooses just let your heart and creativity take over! After all, it only happens once! Good luck~ Thank you all for your advice!

I'm getting $101pp for a saturday evening on June 19, 2010... and I got a bunch of thing thrown in as well including a free room at the inn on top of the free room I got from blocking rooms.
I'm in the same rooms you are but I think I have too little people and the room will look empty. About 120 people

$115 for a sat in Sept in what I was quoted when I was looking.
When we first went there I didn't know if I LOVED the briar fox room....like you I was kind of on the border with the bigger room. So I went back and saw it all set up for a wedding and it was gorgeous. I loved the warm cozy feeling of the room. You definitely need to see it set up for a wedding to really get the feeling.
And about the garden terrace room, you do need to have a minimum of 200 in there....sometimes they will work with you decreasing it to 175.

i wanted the garden terrace room as well but only wanted to guarantee 125... the only way they would let me do this is by doing a sat. afternoon, so thats what i did! plus im saving a lot more per person. just wanted to throw out that option

We're date and venue 'twins'!
Our wedding runs from 8 pm-1:30 am, with our ceremony on-site and reception in the Winter Garden. Your cocktail hour is probably right before my reception! lol What time does your cocktail hour begin?
Btw... I was at a wedding there in July in the Garden Terrace room and it was fantastic!
Congrats! and Happy 'One-Year 'til your Wedding' today!!

We're having the same thing. The CH is in the WGP and the reception is in the Briar Fox room. I have had some of the same concerns as you, but hearing what other people have had to say about the room and the Fox Hollow in general have made me feel a little better.

We're having our reception in the garden terrace. Theres a min of 175 on a friday (when we're having it) and I think 200 on a saturday night.
hth.. I've never really heard anything bad about any of the rooms at the fox hollow. Good luck with making your decision!
