Reception Down Payment

Can anyone tell me how much they had to put down when they first booked their wedding? And of you had to have the money right then to reserve the date? PLeeeeeease! Thanks!

We put down 10% (based on our minimum) and yes we had to pay to get a contract.

eta: yeah you have to give them something to hold the date... its bad business for them if they didnt get some type of deposit

we had to put down a min of $1000 but it was on a credit card ... the rest of the payments need to be either cash or certified check so it might have been a better idea to put more than the min ... oh well, se la vi

deposit was $1,000 and I paid by check.

We put down $5000 to book the hall.
I paid by check.
I met with them on a Wednesday, called on Thursday to say I would take it, and went back Friday to pay them.

Makes sense! Thanks ladies! I was thinking we would have to walk in with like $5,000 off the top! $1000 is more than feasible! Anyone know anything about Riviera Caterers in Brooklyn?

I think my RH required $1000. But I left half the day we reserved and then another half after we went to a tasting of the appetizers. Nothing was set in stone until we left the second half but they agreed to hold the date at least until them. FH and I were rady to leave all of then money but the banquet manager insisted that we shouldn't leave any money until we tasted their food. We paid them by check each time.

we put down $2000 which was what was due at signing.

I had to put $3,500 down. Did it via personal check.

we had to put down $1500, then we had to pay 30days later, 60 days later and 90 days later another $1500 then the week of the wedding we pay the balance.
