Re: Reception Hall

overall look & decor

its pretty close and its an easy drive from the church

i had never heard of it before and a bunch of ppl that i mentioned it to never heard of the woodlands before so I liked that it wasn't some place that ppl have been to 6 million times

one wedding at a time

the great reviews that i've read on this site

i haven't tried the food yet, but all the reviews say its great!

love that you can personalize the mansion with your touches so it feels like your home

FH loved it as much as I do

something that I thought that was SUPER impt - i love the inside as much as i love the outside. There were soooo many RHs that I loved their gardens and outdoor space, but I wasn't in love with the inside. If it is bad weather, then you are screwed. I didn't want to lose the one reason that I fell in love with my RH.

Be patient when searching and really think about what you want and what you don't. We made a list of what we thought was impt to help sort everything out. When ppl say 'you will know the right one when you see it' they are right! I didn't think it would happen for me, but we totally got that feeling after we saw our RH. We had an appt in the afternoon the same day that we saw the Woodlands and I was ready to cancel that afternoon appt bc we just loved the Woodlands so much!

hope this helps!

Re: Reception Hall

I knew when we walked in and we then continued to look at other places but I kept comparing them to Westbury Manor.

Loved that is was not the 'catering hall' feel
Love the outside as much as the inside
That is used to be someone's home at one time
The food
Plus none of my friends have been to a party there

Theres a lot that stood out with the CLM...I espeicially loved the view from the 2nd floor. :) My FH and I have always loved water and the view took my breath away. :) . Not to mention the food is fabulous and the entire atmosphere is beyond gorgeous. We saw this, and knew right away this is where we were going to become Mr & Mrs. Meriam. :)

I love my RH, Old Field Club!!!

The things that really stood out to me and made me want to book were:

* The main ballroom - simple and elegant
* It has a very unique feel to it, not a typical RH
* High vaulted ceilings
* On the water
* Outdoor deck (for cocktail hour) - they also utilize an indoor room for cocktail hour (which is great if it rains)
* One wedding PER DAY (your start time can be whenever you choose because they only host one event per day)
* French doors along side of ballroom
* LOVE the chandeliers

It is my dream RH!

Ditto, except I live in Queens, but the Church is in Brooklyn.

And it's not necessarily my visual style, but FH LOOOOOOVES the look... and I wanted Westbury Manor as my first choice, but that wasn't going to work out for various reasons, so ultimately:

Location
Food
Service
Reputation
Flexibility (with guarantees and menu)

Re: Reception Hall

I know it sounds crazy but the second I walked into the RH I chose I just knew! I didn't want to look any where else, but I did and just kept coming back to the same place!

Here are the things that I considered (or that I believe made me fall in love with my RH)
- The atmosphere
- One wedding at a time
- Price (ofcourse!)
- Bridal suite
- Food and cocktail hour
- also how flexible would they be (like can I actually get the cake a want ect.)
- people/service (this was very important to me..I wanted to be sure I was comfortable with the person I would be working with)

- the overall look/feel of the place (I wanted a laid back, comfortable feel to the venue).
- outdoor cocktail hour on the water
- price
- food
- 1 event at a time

Re: Reception Hall

It's in the top 3 rated reception halls on LI.

It's not too far from where I live.

We get the whole grounds to ourselves for the wedding.

The ambiance.

The cocktail hour room is so different than everywhere else.

The ball room is gorgeous.

The grounds have lakes and vineyards.
