Reception Hall Dilemma

Reception Hall Dilemma

Hi everyone! I am new to LIWeddings but have been reading some threads and was hoping to get some advice. My fiance and I are looking to get married in Sept/Oct 2009 and are looking at reception halls. Here's a few we like so far and our concerns with each (any advice would be great!):

Lombardis on the Sound - love the elegant atmosphere and what a view! However, in order to meet our budget we will have to do a Sat. afternoon wedding. I feel that on the water an afternoon wedding could be nice but I have never really considered an afternoon wedding before. Also, I have read some concerns on the board about the service/manners of the staff.

Fox Hollow - again love the style. But for our number of guests, in order to get the room we love (the Garden Terrace) we again need to have a Sat. afternoon wedding.

Miller Place Inn - like the cozy, warm and intimate feeling of this hall and have read nothing but great things on the threads. We can also do a night wedding here. However I am concerned that the decor might be a little outdated and that it does not really compare to the two above.

Any thoughts/opinions from former brides or guests at these places? Thanks in advance!

I love Lombardi on the sound been there for dinner....I don't think a sat afternoon wedding is a bad idea especially since its by the water. I actually think its different and your guest will enjoy the view! Also I don't know if you will be having OOT guests, but at night time it can be a little tricky to find if you are not familiar with the area....HTH

Lombardi's on the Sound is great. I have a friend who got married there and they were very pleased with everything. Like the poster before me said- with a Saturday day wedding, you can really take in the views.

Miller Place Inn is also a great place from what I hear. In fact, I believe my Neice's sweet 16 is going to be there.

Im getting married atThe fox Hollow Garden Terrace Room on Valentines Day in the evening. All i can say is I LOVE THE PLACE! Its so beautiful & the food is awesome. If you have to do an afternoon wedding...DO IT! I think its nice & you canmaybe do an after party if you want.

If you are still undecided try Westbury Manor maybe they can work better or The Riviera. Good luck

If you are getting married in late October, sunset will be about 6 pm. Depending on the time of your affair, you may be able to get some really nice sunset views as well.

I'm not sure what your price range is, but I was shocked at how many different places had affordable prices when you are flexible with your wedding date! You could keep looking if you wanted to...

There are a few Lessing's places that are very affordable. FM if you need more info.
