Reception Hall HELP

So i have been working on 'the list' with the families and we are looking to invite around 185 people, there are a good chunk that we know won't come. What do you think is a comfortable number to guarantee?

How are other people deciding on this sort of thing? Is there a formula??

There are two places that I really like one has a min of 160 and the other a max of 140....

help, suggestions....

Well, we orginally had a list of about 160, and our min is 140.
If you are between these two places, I would not go with the place that has the max of 140 because what if you go over that? You can't gaurantee how many will decline. If the 160 seems too high for you at the other place, see if you can talk them down a little bit. Most places are willing to accomodate. Good luck!!

PS you are getting married the day after my birthday!

The 'rule of thumb' is that 20% usually RSVP no. However, there are always those people that absolutely wouldn't show that do, and those that never in a million years would miss your wedding that do.

Our guest list, after some cutting on my part, is @ 140 invited guests, with a 100 minimum guarantee, in a room with a claimed 170 person capacity (although I think it would be cramped with that many people), with an expected 125.

We have about 160 on our list meaning about anywhere from 130-150 will show so we guarenteed 100. we know at least that many will bw there because it is family. You should not guarentee a higher number if you are not sure because you will have to pay for those extra plates as a guarenteed number

Do you have any out of towners in your number? If you do, then the 15-20% regrets tend to be a little higher. Not always the case, just something to consider. HTHs! Good Luck!
