Reception Hall Help

Hi! I've been engaged for a day and this site has already been helpful! I am getting ready to look at a few halls (chateau la mer, tall grass, larkfield manor, and miller place inn) and I wanted any feedback you have on any of those places. I have done a few searches on them, but figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. Thanks!!

Tall Grass was one of my options. Janet is a Sweetheart. They were under construction when I looked and wasn't comfortable with that (personal opinion). Good luck!

I went to a wedding at CLM last year and it was great. I can't comment on the others because I have never been there.

Good Luck! And congrats on your recent engagement!!!!!

Highly recommend Chateau La Mer!!! They have been so amazing and accommodating during my whole planning process. Plus, the ballroom is beautiful and the views are great. I can't wait to have my wedding there!

Good luck in your search.

Since you're out by the Miller Place inn, try the East wind. Miller Place inn was willing to negotiate a lot!! Their cocktail hour room was a little small!!

Re: Reception Hall Help

I was recently at a wedding at MP INN, very nice, cocktail room a little small ( but many places are) the reception room was very dark, if you do go ask if there are ways to brighten up the room a little, i'm not sure if the b/groom wanted it that way but i thought it would;'ve looked nicer a little brighter, the upstairs is great for the bridal party to chill if you get there a little early..no complaints on the food, the workers were very helpful too...
my brother got married at CML, everyone loved it very spacy rooms, great food, workers were very nice, bridal suite was a little small..no complaints, i wouldv;e looked there if my bro.didn't just get married there...
larkfield- i looked there on sunday & was very elegant, they offer a lot of food, were willing to work with you, i was quoted very good prices for the fall..i would def. check it out

Welcome to the boards

Out of the ones mentioned I like Chateau La Mer...beautiful views, great service, and yummy food.

Nick from Chateau La Mer is amazingly helpful and kind and they are on top of things over there!!

It was my second choice

CLM was also our VERY CLOSE 2nd choice. FH had me make the final decision and I knew he wanted the hall we chose so... But he says we can have our baby's christening at CLM. Can't wait to have a baby!!!!!

Re: Reception Hall Help

I went to look at all the same reception halls, plus a few more. Just keep into mind, where it is located.... the views you have or a closed room with no windows.... and then compare prices, larkfield manor, and chateau la mer will fall into about the same price range... Check it out, I went with Chateau La Mer and i cant be happier, Nick and lou are extreemly nice

Re: Reception Hall Help

okay yeah i have some experience with a few of those places...

i went to a wedding at the miller place inn after it was renovated (july 2003) and we had a nice time b/c the DJ was great but my dinner was not so good unfortunately-- i'm hoping it was just a bad experience but the food there was not quality and a few of the other people at my table felt the same way--it's an important part so i wanted to make sure i told you about that.... we actually had to stop at wendy's on the way home b/c i was hungry, it was a shame.

i actually went to a bridal showcase at timber point CC about a year ago (already, wow!) and the food that i had was very good and i noticed that the service was nice too. the place was pretty and on our way home we saw beautiful deer walking across the golf course!! it was nice but i have not been to an actual wedding so it's hard to say more than that.

chateau la mer, out of what you listed, would be the front runner for me if i were you. i went to a full sit-down showcase/tasting there about 8 months ago and it was EXCELLENT. the service was right on and the food was REALLY good (I had chicken cordon bleu and my FH had filet mignon that he still talks about!!). then the LIW anniversary party that i attended was there and again, GREAT food--holy calamari and seafood plus pasta!!!, AMAZING service which was extremely accomodating and the v-hour they do is something else!! i also like the look of the place because it's on the water, once in the room-- the view is beautiful...they are also doing a lot of renovations to the place too which is always a plus.

i have not had personal experience with larkfield manor but i've heard good things and some not so great-- here and there... the place looks nice from the outside, i pass it a lot b/c i live in fort salonga... i can't say too much b/c i really don't know but out of the choices i think CLM is at the top just based on location (water view), service (great), and food (really great)...

HTH and good luck, not to mention-- welcome to the addiction!!!!

Re: Reception Hall Help

I am having my wedding at Larkfield Manor. So far they have been wonderful. The place is getting nicer & nicer everytime we go stop by. They are doing lots of renovations. The outdoor area looks like it will be amazing.
We also went for our food tasting & it was great, very good food & gourmet presentation.
Fm me with any questions.
