do reception halls give a discount if you have your wedding on columbus day weekend?

Re: reception hall question?
Maybe, depends what day. My wedding is Columbus day weekend but it's on Sat so I don't get a break. You might get the regular Sunday discount most halls offer even though Monday is a holiday. However, some halls decide to be extra sleazy and charge the Saturday night price for the Sunday before a holiday. Even one where not everyone has off, like Columbus Day. Shop around and you'll see, some do it, some don't.

Not necessarily. Alot of people like to get married on holiday weekends because it may be easier for OOT guests. So halls may charge more on those dates. Be careful.

Re: reception hall question?
thanks girls i was just wondering because i might change my date to oct. 9 2005 because of the holiday a lot of people have off and they wouldn't have to worry about leaving early because of school and work and someone told me it was cheaper. as long as it's not more expensive, i think i'm going to change it.

Not really if it is Sunday, bc they consider the Sun like Sat given ppl have the day off on Monday. Maybe if you took the MOnday?

It won't hurt to ask the caterer the price differences.
How many people are off for Columbus Day anymore? The only people I know that have off are teachers and people that work for the city/town. I haven't had the holiday off since high school.

My friend was able to get a discount. I guess it depends on the reception hall.

IMO - i won't change it just b/c you think people have off the next day. i NEVER have that holiday off. if it's cheaper, than definitely switch.

I am also considering a Monday of Memorial day weekend and I am getting much less expensive quotes than Sunday. In fact most place the Sat. and Sun. prices were about the same, and higher minimum. Is this normal?

Re: reception hall question?
I got marreid on the Sunday before Columbus Day, October 12, and there was normal sunday pricing. Usually when there is a holiday on Monday, they charge Saturday prices on that Sunday, since Monday is off. The thing is , not everyone has off on COlumbus Day.
