reception hall question

my fi and i am paying for our wedding all by ourselves. we are on a tight budget. i was looking around and i found 2 places that might fit our budget but neither one of us has heard of them. if any one has herad of either Ariana Waterfalls or the Mediterranean Manor in pachouge or been to functions there or are getting married there, any insight would be great.

We plan on visiting both but we wanted some insight first.

thanks!

I went to look at the ariana waterfall. I thought it was beautiful. I was a little turned off by the stairs overlooking hempstead turnpike! the rooms are beautiful. we just went to the bridal showcase there and the food was good.

some other places you might want to check out if you're on a tight budget: manor east and holiday inn in plainview (one of my favorites), both have package deals!

be sure to check with better business bureaus on everyone of them, as well as local chamber of commerce

Re: reception hall question

i was recently at a wedding at mediterreanian manor. ugg my spelling is horrible tonight but too tired to correct myself! anyway...the cocktail hour was yummy and plentiful. the cake was also yummy. i'll be honest, i don't really remember the entree b/c i'm an off and on vegetarian and happened to be a vegetarian that night. i filled up at the cocktail hour since the veg dishes are usually terrible at weddings, but the cockail hour was plenty of delicious food.

the one downside to the place for me was the decor of the one room we were in...there were TONS of mirrors. I almost got dizzy and walked into the wall in the hallway b/c there were mirrors up and down the walls. I wasn't even drinking! Again, that was just the room we were in I think, so I would check it out.

Also check out Chateau la mer (?) b/c they seemed to have a reasonable package when I checked it out. You should also explore the possibility of off season wedding (Jan-April and Nov-Dec for some places) Good luck and keep us posted!

My parents have been to functions at Med. Manor and liked it.

Also check out Brentwood CC. They have the all-inclusive package. My cousin got married there and it was very nice.

Hope this helps and good luck!

when I was searching here for reviews in oct/nov 2006 there were alot if I recall that saiad Arianna was very nice.

you might also want to check out prices on Marconi Manor that has packages. I don't know how good they are, I only remember seeing ads for their pkgs.

I hear that Stuart Thomas Manor in Farmingdale is nice and reasonable.

and there are always the Knights of Columbus in Oceanside and Seaford and American legion In Levittown that have catering rooms.

I would also check out West Sayville Country Club or West Lake Inn.

West Sayville is very affordable and overlooks the Great South Bay.

West Lake Inn is run by Lovin Oven (same caterers as Flowerfield and Lands End) but is MUCH more affordable and looks beautiful. I am actually going to check it out on Saturday.

Good luck!!

Re: reception hall question

you may want to keep your day and time flexible to get a better rate. Try Watermill. We're getting a really great deal on a Sunday afternoon, saving about $40-$50 pp over a Saturday nite!

Re: reception hall question

I would say to check out Swan Club, Brentwood CC, Leonard's, Chateau La Mer. . . . .Depending if you're willing to go to an off month (December, January, February), you can look anywhere! Westbury Manor quoted me high 50s pp for a Friday or Saturday night in January (Can't remember, sorry), Leonard's actually quoted me $64pp (basic package - no seafood add-ons or extras) for a friday night in November. I would definitely just keep looking around and be straight forward with your budget . . .vendors will work with you!

I think you could organize a wedding yourself for the same price some places offer all-inclusive, you just have to know where to look for deals and good prices and how to bargain. . . FM me if you need help with anything!
