We are looking to book a reception hall within the next week or so. We have already seen the menu, gotten the grand tour, asked about pricing in each season and day of the week, start-end times, etc. Now that we have been 'interviewed' by the priest at the church, we want to book the date at the hall.
What types of questions should we ask to be included in addition to the extensive menu?
How much should we expect to get knocked off the price (on average)?
What else did I leave out/not consider?
I have a few ideas in mind, but it's good to get suggestions from those who have already gone through this process. Please post or FM me with suggestions. TIA!!! I really appreciate it.
PS: How much time are you leaving between the ceremony and the cocktail hour?

Re: Reception Hall Question
I think as far as knocking price per person, don't be afraid to mentioned ANY number. For instance, if they are asking 105, ask for 95. If they don't budge, say you want extras thrown in.
What exactly does this RH offer before I make any suggestions?
Also, I am getting married at 6PM and my cocktail hour is starting at 8.

Re: Reception Hall Question
my suggestion would be to try to get them to come down on the pp price and see what extras they may throw in for you (if any) in addition to that. Then, any extras that you still want wait till it gets much closer to your date and ask for them to be thrown in (maybe around the time you set your menu? havent figured out exactly when yet). I was given this advice from previous brides, seems like the closer it is to your date the more likely they are to throw those things in, as opposed to when you ask for them to be added when you sign. Our BM actually suggested this to us also with some extras that we want, and we are holding off till it gets closer

Re: Reception Hall Question
I heard...not sure if its true..that a RH is more likely to throw in extras than reduce the price...BUT IT DOESN'T HURT TO ASK!!
As far as in the contract have them put EVERYTHING DOWN!!! It won't hurt...We are getting married in April and FH had them put in something about snow/weather in the rare chance that it will snow...

Re: Reception Hall Question
Besides suggesting a pp i would definitely when goign through things ask for things to be thrown in. It doesnt hurt at all to do. plus make sure about linens if they offer them or if you will hav eto pay if you want chair covers. etc.

Re: Reception Hall Question
the best advice I can give you is... know what you want to pay total and write down whats important to you and hand them a piece a paper with what you want. they will either say yes or no ..if you like a place make an offer.

Re: Reception Hall Question
You can ask if they can lower the price pp by about 10 bucks, but you can also bargain with your guarantee, to make sure you don't pay for more than will be there. If they won't budge on the pp, ask flat out if they'll throw in the ice sculpture, choc fountain, viennese, mini-viennesse, an extra station, whatever you'd like to have.
