Hi Ladies! We're going to be begin checking out halls for our wedding and I'm not sure what to expect.
How long are you with each place? I'm hoping to look at a few places in a day and I am not sure how far out to space the appointments. Is there anything specific I should bring or do beforehand? Do most places let you taste food before you book?
Thank you so much for your help!!!

Re: Reception Hall Questions
I would leave about an hour between each appointment. No need to bring anything with you other than a list of questions if you have specific ones. I would also do a rough guest list first so that you know how many people you can guarantee.
I wasn't able to taste any food before I booked, but I also didn't push the issue. Some places let you and some don't.
Good luck!

Re: Reception Hall Questions
You should expect to be at each RH for 45 min to an hour. They go over the details of your day, what you vision for your day, the menu, show you the rooms/grounds, etc. As far as tasting the food before you book each RH has its own policy so you have to check with them on that. Just have fun and go with a list of questions that are important to you.

Re: Reception Hall Questions
I would leave an hour in between appointments usually depending on how far each place is from each other. Some places take longer, so maybe 1.5 hours so you don't feel rushed.
We looked at 12 places in 2 weeks and usually spaced it out an hour if the places were close and 1.5 or 2 hours if they were far away.
Good luck planning and let me know if you need any quotes (I only have for June 2010).

Re: Reception Hall Questions
All of the places we looked at allowed up to set up a tasting for a night during the week. We booked after having about 10 dinners.

Totally agree! When we went to our RH, I took pics of absolutely everything, not only to show family members what the place looks like but also for me so when I'm planning out decor, I have a visual at home.

Re: Reception Hall Questions
If you see multiple places in one day, be sure to take notes in between. We saw 5 in one day, and by the last place, everything started jumbling all together.

Re: Reception Hall Questions
We looked at 3 in an afternoon, and gave about 2 hour gap for each. The appointment lasted for about and hour, and the other hour was for traveling to the next place and making sure we didnt run late!
Its a lot of fun! Bring a list of questions for each place, and possible dates you want your wedding on!
An important question for us was making sure it was only 1 event at a time :)
Piece of advice- Dont rush your decision!! We looked at 12 places before we found our match!
Have a good time! :)

Re: Reception Hall Questions
I agree with all the posts! Only thing i would add is when booking them try to book them town by town. So your not back tracking and it will be easier to get to each.

Re: Reception Hall Questions
I never even considered that some places would make you book without tasting. How could you book a place without knowing how the food is?
