My fiance and I have just started out search for wedding venues. I'm looking to be in Western Suffolk/easter Nassau. Does anyone have quotes for the following places? I'm looking for a Saturday night in September/October 2013. I know Saturdays are most expensive, but it is the most convenient for our friends/family.
Please let me know if you have quotes for... 1. Thatched Cottage 2. Hamlet Golf & Country Club 3. Milleridge Cottage 4. Carlyle on the Green 5. The Carltun
Also, any other suggestions on venues will be great! We need somewhere that can accomodate about 280.
Thanks!!!!!!!

Re: Reception Hall quotes needed!!!!
We booked at Hamlet Wind Watch Golf and Country Club in Hauppauge for August of 2013, but ours is booked for a Friday night. Saturday nights are just too expensive. Not really sure if their room would be good for 280 people though. We are only having 100 people. We were quoted for a Friday night 65++ but we got alot of extras included. Good luck in your search!

Bourne Mansion! We love it and the food was wonderful, the staff outstanding and the venue like traveling back in time to Great Gatsby.

We met with Bourne in February and they tried to quote us $155++ for a Saturday in January 2014, PLUS the $2500 site fee. I knew it would be expensive, but that's a bit much. The man tried to bargain with us that if we took January 2013 he would give us $130pp++, and if we took any remaining Saturday in 2012 it would be $120pp++.

I had a similar experience and to me the price just wasn't worth the amount of food they were offering, IMO. And on top of the price of the hall I couldn't afford to decorate that huge ballroom, however it is a beautiful building, I really wanted a Gatsby inspired wedding but that didn't work out lol now its more Castle-ish

Re: Reception Hall quotes needed!!!!
For a Saturday in September, Bourne quoted me at 215 pp plus 5000 site fee! I'm still going to look to see if I can negotiate anything but I doubt I'll be having my wedding there.

WOW.. Yea I mean the place is nice, but its not THAT nice. I rather go to Garden City Hotel for that price!! Last I heard the site fee is non negotiable because it is St. John's fee not Lessings. Hope they work with you!

Re: Reception Hall quotes needed!!!!
Carlyle on the Green and the Carltun are also very expensive..
For a Saturday night in March I was quoted: -$150pp ++ at Carlyle (also their service charge is 22%, instead of 20% for most places) -$175pp ++ at The Carltun
I'm booked at the Bourne-- the site fee is def non-negotiable, but you can try and work with them on the price per person-- we were able to.

I'm at the Hamlet Golf and Country Club. Food is beyond amazing and the room can accomidate ecaxtly what you are looking for. Im at around 250 and the room size is perfect! Hillary is the BM there and she and her assistand Nicole are the BEST (besides the fact that they are total sweethearts!)Plus, it's a one wedding at a time place (which I love) Im in June but I know the prices are lower for the slower season. I'll FM you

Actually it is that nice... but Lessings does work with you. Lots of renovations. Similar venue in Brooklyn quotes at $300.00 a plate! Must say though, reading the prices for 2014 looks like prices are rising about $30.00 to $40.00 per head!

Yes they are increasing their prices dramatically, due to their renovations. For them to charge $5,000 off the bat just to hold your wedding there, then another 215 pp (and up) which with Tax and gratuity brings you to $285.25 a head and their minimum is 150 (for a friday more on Saturday) thats $47,037.50 on the hall alone. In MY opinion, I do not think that the facility warrants that high of a price tag. I'm not looking to offend anyone, the place IS beautiful it was actually one of my top venues but that is a hefty cost to pay for a 5 hour party. And when the majority of couples are paying for their own wedding nowadays and paying back student loans and looking to buy a house or car and start a family, I think thats asking a lot. If money were not an issue then I would tell a bride to go for it, the place has classic old world charm and has spectacular views.

Re: Reception Hall quotes needed!!!!
Actually I meant $30.00 to $40.00 everywhere! We paid a much lower site fee at Bourne for the last weekend of April. Believe it or not, the $300.00 a head quote in Brooklyn did not include the venue! Just catering and that was in 2011! There was a site fee on top of that and there was no parking with that!
Happy my daughter was married this year, not sure we could afford a wedding next year or the year after! Not sure what we will do if my younger daughter marries.
I agree, brides and grooms today have a lot on their plate although I do think you get the most for your money on Long Island because there is so much competition. When we looked out of town, we discovered all kinds of hidden costs and lots of add on. One thing we know how to do on Long Island is throw a wedding! LOL
Hey, if these catering halls have raised their prices too high, the only way to send the message is not to book.
