Reception Hall 'The One'

Original post by CalJoe0124

Hi Ladies,

Stupid question, but just as they say you know when you have found your wedding dress 'the one' how did each of you know when you found the reception hall of your dreams.
I think it really is about finding the one you like the most but just curious how you all felt.

Thanks!!

My place is undergoing major renovation and even still I knew. The caterer at the temple showed me blueprints and new materials. Fortunately I am a visual person and can foresee how gorgeous it is going to look. The beauty of it all is that my nephew's Bar Mitzvah is at the same place in November so I get a tasting. The food may differ from a wedding but I'll know the quality and will be able to take mental notes. The decorations (flowers vs. balloons and 13 yr old kid stuff) will also be different than a wedding. I also got a good feeling from the man I was dealing with. He is flexible and willing to accommodate our needs.

OOOOOOH I can't wait until you announce it....and I am not even familiar with any other the temples....will you have any pics???

We chose the 7th or 8th hall we saw. None of the others compared. It had what we were looking for: a smaller ballroom, good food, an outdoor area for the ceremony. It's funny, we almost didn't go there because I was getting sick of looking.

My FH and I just took everything in at each place we checked out. Then we both walked out of the Harbor Club and said I Love it!

It offered everything we wanted plus a whole lot more for the price range we were in. The fact that the date we wanted was open made us book it that day. We just knew it was the 'the one' for us.

The pressure!!! I hope I don't let you down Kathleen.

No, I will not have any pictures because the temple is shutting down from July 3 until September around the time of the Jewish High Holidays for a MAJOR renovation. So the temple I saw is not going to be the temple I use. Well, the outside structure will be the same, but there will be changes.

There will be a brand new ballroom - the walls are about to go up (I think) very shortly. There will be brand new carpeting (all over the entire facility), bridal suite, and bathrooms (not stalls but actual rooms). All of the bars will have new marble. The ballroom chairs will be new (with that bamboo-ish kind of look so I won't need chair covers (FH's big thing - don't ask). The old ballroom which is behind the sanctuary will now be the new cocktail hour room. It was big enough as a ballroom but will be much more spacious as a cocktail hour room. The sanctuary will have new stadium seating making it much easier for everyone to see.

I saw the new materials and blueprints and it is great knowing that everything will be new and not worn out.Fortunately FH is much more visual than I gave him credit for and can foresee what the end product will look like.

As cheesy as it may sound, as soon as we entered the driveway, the place just took my breath away (literally)- and i knew it was the 'one' even before i walked through the door

I was so sick of looking at places and I sent my mom by her self and told her I will only go if you think that i will like it ....she called me crying and told me I had to come look at it ...I did and when I walked in I got goose bumps and I could just see us there ...and that was it!

And there is no stupid question by the way

It darn well better be. I think by stadium seating they mean that instead of the rows going straight across, that they turn inward so people get a better view. I dont think our ushers will need to use little whisk brooms to brush the seats off and ask for tips.
