Ladies, I can't put down my deposit for any reception hall becuase every place is telling us that they dont have rates in 2009 yet. But I just want to get it over with and reserve my date. Is anyone else having that problem?

not here. A lot of dates are already booked for 2009 !! And most of the halls that I went to said they would book for 2010 too !

They should let you book because you want to get 2007 prices not '09. How many places have you checked out so far?

The only hall that wouldn't even let me come in to look for a fall 2009 date was Woodbury Country Club. I thought that was odd, but maybe they are planning renovations or something for that time. Or they are closing down...who knows!

Thats kind of odd. Usually they will let you book early and you actually save $ because you are getting their current rates.
Giorgios told me yesterday that if I sign a contract before the 18th i'll save 10% because after that their rates are going up.

What hall told you that? The only place that told me they couldn't book 2009 until around now was Atlantica back in July. Some halls re-do their prices at a certain time each year. They don't honor the current price just because you are booking now. It really stinks, but if you love the place then maybe it is worth it.
