How many reception halls did you all look at before you made a decision?

Re: Reception Halls Question

About 10 that I can recall

Chateau Briand (close friend works there)
Verdi's of Westbury
Marriott Uniondale
Maine Maid Inn
George Washington Manor
Leonards of Great Neck
Thatched Cottage
Couldn't find Westbury Manor - we kept driving past it!!!
Jericho Terrace

Jericho Terrace was the last place we went to and we booked it on the spot after being wined and dined for 2+ hours!! Besides, we both knew and I was tired of looking!!

We looked at 5- Riviera, Captain Bills, Carltun on the Sound, another I can't remember and Chateau La Mer but we were hooked on CLM as soon as we saw it.

Re: Reception Halls Question

We actually visited about 7 or 8 places.

I called a ton of places and then weeded out the ones I wasn't interested in. I also did extensive research on www.weddingsitesandservices.com and used the brides review here on LIW to help decided on those we felt we wanted to see.

The Bellport Country Club was actually never in the running when we went to see it. I felt that it was too far from the church to be a serious consideration. But since it met all of our criteria, I just made the appointment there to help me choose another place. We ended up falling in love wth it.

Re: Reception Halls Question

I really want an outdoor ceremony but the indoor option has to be great as well, not to mention it's an evening wedding so I want elegance and party without dragging my non-Long Island friends (about 80%of them) out of the way. Min. of 180 persons

1-Crest Hollow (No tasting, communal bathrooms but really nice pool side cocktail party!)

2-Fox Hollow (out door ceremony site was too small and the ceiling was too low for the reception)

3-Swan Club (soo pretty but did not like the small communal bathroon and no separate area for the DJ, they would be on the dance floor with you)

4-Sans Souci (not for us, and the 'sales' person was not very pleasant)

5-North Ritz (no outdoor Ceremony)

6-Jericho Terrace (the rep was too 'salesman-ish' no out door ceremony and i was tired of hearing how 'great' they tought they were and how Z100 was raving about them *yawn*.)

7-Crescent Beach Club (the rep kept putting down some of the places I had not seen yet and that was not a good sign So I left while filling out the forms)

8-Westbury Manor (Beautiful place for a day wedding, been to a few there and the food was wonderful!)

9-Verdi's of Westbury (cute place, didn't Jazz me)

10-Woodbury Country Club (really liked it, like the rep more! Very accomodating and it really is a nice place, my first choice untill...)

11-Chateau Briand (being told the place was 'gaudy' I went with hesitation. The place was waht we were really looking for, Art Deco, out door ceremony with a great indoor option in case of weather, seperate bathrooms and seperate kitchens, wood decore, recessed bars, accomodating and the whole coming up the floor had my FH with a big cheesy grin on his face, so... we did a tasting and booked)

Hope this helps?

4, but I knew a lot of the Halls from various weddings/bar mitzvahs and fraternity formals.

I'm going to book at the last one I looked at. :)

Re: Reception Halls Question

We saw three others. We had some pretty specific criteria to look for, and with the time of year, our options were kind of limited.

we looked at about 3 or 4, but knew the first one was it bcause that's what we kept comparing everything else to.
