7! I had narrowed down a lot by going to showcases with my cousin last year. Plus I did my homework with local bridal mags!!

Re: Reception Halls Question

20 places in 2 months!

It was extremely painful. The only reason I looked at so many was because I am new to LI and I felt like I needed to check a lot of places out.

If it wasn't for the girls on the '06 boards I NEVER would have made a decision.

Two - was able to narrow down my optons with internet research and phone calls. When I walked into Giorgio's, I knew right away that it was the place I wanted my wedding !!!

Re: Reception Halls Question

two. I went to the Surf Club first, fell in love and then went to Beckwithpointe and was horrified that they were on teh same street as the Surf Club but the service looked bad and the place had a funny smell. We visited both places as they were setting up for a wedding and the staff at the Surf Club was relaxed and efficient while the staff at Beckwithpointe was in a frenzy. Also at BP they showed me a cake they had tossed in for 'free' and it had a huge crack in the middle!! Considering that they were both in the same price range and the Surf Club let me negotiate a cheaoer rate with upgrades, I was happy to go with them.

Re: Reception Halls Question

too many to remember.... probably about 10-15. although we went with the 3rd one we saw. we would have went with that one before seeing all the others but the caterer that we first saw it with was way to expensive. took some digging & research to find a caterer who would work with our budget - and while i was digging/researching, we were looking at other places.

Re: Reception Halls Question

We saw Chateau LaMer first and fell in love with the Atrium room. We looked at few afterwards but that was just to make sure that we really wanted CLM.

We looked at:
The Meadow Club
Villa Lombardi's
The Coral House

Re: Reception Halls Question

I started with the criteria that I wanted to be the only bride, so that narrowed down the choices considerably. I did however allow FH to talk me into checking out a limited number of locations that didn't match that criteria. I then picked a dozen places to look at, and while calling around that number was cut in half because my quest count was 'too low'. I then went to Round 2 choices, and Round 3 choices.

I saw:
Bourne Mansion
deSeversky Center
Vanderbuilt Mansion
Coindre Hall
Atlantis Marine World
Stewart Manor CC
Stonebridge CC
Giorgios
Beach Club Estate
Carltun on the Sound
George Washington Manor
Louis XVI
Riviera
Sans Souci
Meadow Club
Swan Club
Old Field Club
Harbor Club
Watermill
and ultimately . . . East Wind
With my sister two years ago I had already seen:
Thatched Cottage
Timber Point CC
Majestic Gardens
Captain Bill's
Chateau Briand
Miller Place Inn

Re: Reception Halls Question

Honestly, this may sound weird, but I looked at 1 and knew it was the place.

Giorgio's in Calverton.

I checked out the website and just knew it would be perfect. We went to see it the following morning and that was it!

They have been exceptional from the beginning.

Re: Reception Halls Question

Try calling places first to see if they are within your budget or you will just go there and waste your time.
