Hi Girls! I am new to this website and been engaged a little over a month. My fiance and I are aiming for an Oct 2007 wedding and even though it's early I am eager to start planning! Any great ideas about receptions at mansions? I'm looking at the Vanderbilt and Bourne, but was just wondering if anyone else had some ideas.

Re: reception help!
Welcome and congratulations! Unfortunately I don't know anything about the halls you mentioned, but I'm sure there are brides here who would be more than willing to help you.

Hello, and congrats! I'm getting married at the Harrison House in Glen Cove, which is an old gold coast mansion.
Welcome! You are never too early. It just gives you more time to do things exactly the way you want!!! Have fun!

Welcome to the boards--I hope you enjoy them! The good thing is that there are a number of mansions on LI--as mentioned earlier some options are the Vanderbilt, Bourne, Harrison House, DeSeversky Center (on NYIT's campus), The Woodlands and Timber Point all come to mind when you say 'mansion.' Carlyle and the Carltun also provide a similar feel as well. Good Luck with everything!

Re: reception help!
Welcome!!! Lessings has a lot of the catering contracts for the mansions on Long Island. Timber Point is a mansion also but it's not like Bourne. It's a less expensive alternative. Check out
ETS: Coindre Hall in Huntington and Oheka Cattle are 2 others. Lessing's doesn’t have the exclusive catering in Coindre or the Vanderbilt in Centerport so you can shop 4 a good price.
