Haven't really found what I am looking for... any other suggestions?
Looked at...
Land's End.. Beautiful views but not crazy about dance floor
Watermill... Beautiful but give me downstairs room b/c of numbers. Like upstairs but still feel like I want to look around some more
Villa's- Beautiful but not me
PJCC- Beautiful view but a little out of the way
Flowerfield- Friend is getting married there
Westbury Manor- friend is getting married there
Carlyle- looking tomorrow.... might be too pricey
Am I being too picky, or is the hall of my dreams out there? I really want one- two the most- weddings at a time.
Do you really say 'this is it' when you find the hall you want? That's what all my friends have told me and I just haven't felt that way!

Re: Reception Location Help
I think it helps to know a little more about what you are looking in a hall.
I would probably need more information but here are some ideas to begin:
Timber Point Club East Wind The new hall by Lessings (I forget the name) Captain Bill's Riviera

Re: Reception Location Help
The Hamlet had that feeling for us, but that was just us. I think you really need to prioritize by: Have to Have, Nice to Have, and Deal Breakers (i.e. no way in hell am I putting up with this on our wedding day)
Remember that its possible that no place will be absolutely perfect but really think about what's important and focus in on that. It will just hit you. Even though we loved the Hamlet when we saw it the first time, we realized when we went back to book it that there was so much we didn't notice which made us end up liking it more. Who knew? You'll find it!

Re: Reception Location Help
We visited a lot of places..
I liked Westbury Manor, Thatched Cottage, Bourne (of course), Carlyle, and Crescent.
She liked Carlyle, Bourne, Crescent and Meadow club.
Port Jeff sounded good - tons of food and I've hard it's great.
We never made it to the Hamlets but, they sound good too.
We picked Crescent and got pretty good quotes from all the places for April Saturday afternoons. $75-$105 pp... Bourne is more.

Have you considered Belmont? We feel in love with it as soon as we went. We are using the tent but there is also an indoor room.

Re: Reception Location Help
I had my wedding at Sunset Harbour, in East Patchogue..
THey have INCREDIBLE food, and they are in the process of doing a complete facelift to the entire hall... My cousin-in-law, sassy2611 will be getting married there in September and I can't wait. They are putting in a marble foyer and more picture-esque grounds... Try giving them a buzz and discussing more details. Maybe see if you can come in and sample some of their food.. I still have guests that came to my wedding raving about the food and the service!! Check my review and feel free to FM me!! Good Luck!
Best Wishes and Happy Planning! ~Lauren

Re: Reception Location Help
Yea, for me I know once I stepped into the Atrium @ Flowerfield. My fiance had been there with my sisters and took pictures . They didn't do it justice in the least.
Depending on your logistics I think we can all make some suggestions so you don't have to run around like we all did. Definitely call before you even go to see if they have your date.
If you do a search you will find alot of people on here have started Threads devoted to their reception hall or vendor.
Best Wishes,
Thomas

Re: Reception Location Help
I think it will help us to find out what you are looking for in more detail. You will definitely find the right venue for your wedding. I felt the same way as I visited many reception sites and I liked mine since I saw it but it was one of the first I visited. After comparing many, we decided on ours. You will definitely find what you are looking for but first probably you need to consider what's important for you. For me, it didn't matter if there was another wedding going on but not more than two though but my reception does a great work in staggering both events so that you don't even see the other party. Just keep looking and you will find the correct venue for your party. It can be a little tiring and I personally got a bit confused but once you see the different places and find what's important for you, you will know!! Good Luck and enjoy the planning !!!!

Re: Reception Location Help
The fox hollow has the maghoney feel. When we were looking we werent thrilled with the banquet manager we spoke with there. He really was clueless and didn't even show us any grounds. They were going to put us in a tiny little room with 150 people. But everyone should check it for themselves. Good Luck.
I bumped a thread for you that has reviews for different places. Maybe you'd like to see it. Everyone has a different opinion and people like different things but perhaps this is helpful. Here is the link anyway!!
