Reception Locations HELP!!!

Reception Locations HELP!!!

We just started looking for reception locations all over Long Island (haven't actually looked at any yet except online) and all I can find is tacky rooms with colorful carpeting, floral chairs and gold everywhere which is neither mine or my FI's taste. Any suggestions would be very helpful of a place that's more neutral/plain where we can decorate it however we want. Please help!!

O M G! i so know what you mean about tacky carpets.

so far, we are tossing it up between:
- flowerfield
- lands end
- giorgios

its a tough decision because i think that there is always something about one place that you like more about the other!

good luck!

Giorgio's is amazing! Here's some pictures from Jola's wedding of the room.

(Don't worry Jola...one day I'll have my own pictures to use! )

You can find links to her pictures on the review board, if you are interested. She also has pictures of the grounds & beach at Giorgio's.

I may be a bit biased, but I think the Riviera in Massapequa is great. There is some cheesy carpeting in the lobby, but the event room itself is beautiful - nice wooden floors, fireplace, water-front views.

I got married at the snapper inn. It is a covered pavillion but so beautiful. Very plain you can really do whatever you want. You can check out my pics in the community albumn. My sister is getting married in April at the Beach Club Estate in Ronkonkoma which is also really pretty but rather small..not sure how many people you're having?

If you like old and historic, take a look at George Washington Inn or Milleridge Inn. They both have a different look. We didn't like what you described either, and most of the other places we looked at featured huge chandeliers, lots of gilt, no windows, etc.

hamlet willow creek- very tasteful

I second that....I was having issues with carpets, chairs, and chandeleirs at alot of places. HWC is very simple but elegant...wood floors, neutral colors, etc.

Check out The Royalton at the Roslyn Country Club. I am having my reception there, and it is really nice. It's a mansion-style place, with all dark wood floors and cream colored walls and pillars. It's very elegant looking and has a large cocktail room with a huge bar and a library sitting area.

It sounds like it might be your taste. I loved places like The Carltun and The Carslyle, so if you like the look of those, you will probably like The Royalton. It has a similar feel.

Feel free to FM me if you want more details. You can get some info about it in the Wedding Sites and Services magazine or www.weddingsitesandservices.com (under NY/Nassau County reception sites).

Good luck!

On my search I found the sand castle to look very nice indoors! Marble everywhere. The price was reasonable too. Good luck

The Inn at East Wind, Chateau La Mer and Timber Point Country Club all have very pretty rooms, that are neutral in color.

I booked at East Wind, I love how elegant it is.

Lands End was my first choice, that place place is magical.

The Thatched Cottage is also lovely.

Good Luck.

Wow...Giorgio's os beautiful....too bad it's too far out for my guests...I would have definetely checked it out.

One place I really liked that was very elegant and not gaudy was the Village Club at Lake Success. Their price was pretty competitive and they have a beautiful room overlooking the lake and a golf course.

Just keep in mind that the pics online don't always do justice to the place. We went to some that we loved online and hated them for real and vice versa
