Re: Reception Places

We need a bit more info. Are you looking for something traditional or contemporary? Are you gettting married on premesis? Is $100 with tax and tip included? How far are you willing to go both east and west? I've been to almost every catering place on long island so I can give you a couple of suggestions.

Re: Reception Places

Let's see...
About 175 to 200 guests.
Food has to be excellent.....Food compared to Villa Lombardi's or Larkfield Manor....
I like the elegance and the grounds of Woodbury Country Club but I wasn't too crazyabout Villa Lombardi's look...I liked the cocktail room but didn't like the reception room...too ornamental for my taste I guess.
Saturday night....It can be a bit more than $100.00 pp but trying to keep it at that....
And I like places that are elegant, tasteful...I'm one of those who believe that once you enter a place, it should leave a lastign impression with you.....
Please keep the feedback coming.....

vanderbilt mansion in oakdale: $125
Flowerfield: $140
Lands End: $140
Watermill: $110
North Ritz Club: $125
Crest Hollow Country club: $110
Swan Club - $75 or $85 (I cant remember)
Sans Souci - $110
Roslyn Claremont Hotel - $125
Leonards - custom menu - $80-$100

The first 3 listed are lovin oven. They are HIGHLY regarded when it comes to food!!!

The ones that stood out the most for me were the loven oven halls, the watermill, giorgios, and the carlyle.

Re: Reception Places

That is exactly what I did...I just went running around to as many as I could. I got a hold of magazines ('Locations' is excellent), recommendations from these boards, and input from friends and family. Then I made a list of like 10 of 11 places that I was interested in seeing that fit my budget.

I made appointments one weekend...5 places on saturday and 6 on sunday. We ended up missing our first appointment on saturday and Fox Hollow was our second (which then turned into the first place we saw!) and we fell in love!!! We went to the other 3 but kept comparing them to Fox Hollow...we cancelled the 6 on Sunday and went right back to Fox Hollow to book! And the rest will be history! Good luck!

Re: Reception Places

The ladies here have made some wonderful suggestions. My only suggestion is to try and book as soon as possible. I couldn't believe that the original Saturday I wanted in July of 2006 was already booked at my hall.

i know that land's end and flowerfields, villa lombardie, gorgios etc all depend on the month

Re: Reception Places

Watermill varies a lot by month as well...March-April was a big jump but they make their own food on premise and their chef is world renowned(sp?)

I also liked ( food wise) Leonards
