Reception Question???
Do you have to have dessert added to your reception? Well, besides the cake. Like miniature Italian pastries, etc. I would think everybody would be full by the time they were done with the cake?

Reception Question???
You dont have to. We were going to do the pastries but the price is outragous! Like $4 per person for a plate to the table. (175 ppl) We are doing the cake and a single chocolate covered strawberry ($1 per person) on the plate. This covers the 'wow, not just cake for dessert' factor that I wanted. For people who dont like cake hopefully they will like the strawberries. The pastries are a nice touch but think how many people will really eat them and how much you will have left over, because you are supposed to get the leftover desserts. We considered having nice cookies made and putting them in boxes as favors (as a way of getting around the charge from the caterers-$3 per person-for a cookie tray), but although that would be cheaper, we still cant afford that. Hope this helped you. Sorry so long.

Reception Question???
I don't think you have to do anything you don't want to..that said, some places throw in an extra desert besides the cake as you move up the menu scale - that's the only reason we are getting an additional desert, plus cookies on the table, plus cake - we went for the more expensive menu - but not for that reason...personally if all the guest got was cake, I would be o.k. with that...hopefully they will be stuffed by then! Do what you are comfortable with and enjoy your day!!

Reception Question???
Melissa, Stay away from the Veinesse hour. Go with coffee (black and brown) as well as cordials. If you want to offer place a small tray on each table of minatures, no more than 1.5 pp as they usually go to waste. If you do decide to do that let the hall know you will be taking home the left overs. they go great the next day cold with ice coffee.

Reception Question???
Personally, I've never seen a good pastry I could say NO to, no matter how full I was! :-) However, I don't think it's necessary. I never saw it at weddings in the Midwest where I grew up. If anything, there was an ice cream dish, like a small peach melba or chocolate sundae in addition to the cake - something light. If you haven't signed your contract, you could try to negotiate for it as an extra for no extra charge. We confirmed a per/plate cost, and when we asked about adding espresso, and the 'modified viennese' of pastries and cookies, they threw it in for the same price, just to entice us to book. Or you could ask about a dish of ice cream or sherbet to go with the cake.

Reception Question???
At my reception hall, they include along with the cake a piece of cheesecake and a fruit tart. I thought that was fine, since it is more than just cake but not too much.

Reception Question???
Melissa, I think they are a waste of good money. NY weddings are so overdone that, by the time even dinner roles around, everyone is full. People LOVE to have the wedding cake. You'll be surprised at how many pastries are left over and I think you'll feel like you wasted money. Just my opinion.

Reception Question???
At my wedding we had a couple of other desserts that were included. If this was not the case, I was thinking of seeing if I could have trays of cookies made up at my bakery and then brought to the reception. Of course, this would be a bit of a pain to get there and I don`t know if it would work out to be any cheaper. I really didn`t check it out. And who knows how the caterer would feel about you bringing in your own desserts. Well, you could check it out to see if it would work.Welcome New Vendors
