We are finally getting our butts into gear with planning, but we are looking for a totally untraditional wedding, since it's the 2nd time for both of us.
I really just want to have a PARTY, at a cool place, and one of the places I have in mind is Port Jazz in Port Jeff. It's a bar, but a nice one, with beautiful window treatments, couches, big bar, kind of dark but nice lighting and I just envision lots of candles. We are planning on having about 50 people.
What do you think of this idea??? Do you think it's tacky??

I think it sounds like a great idea and tacky at all. Port Jazz IS a great bar and will make for a unique & intimate setting for your wedding day.

I think its a great idea for a group like that! Best of all, it allows to have more fun on your special day! Planning is soooooo stressful!

Yay!! I'm so glad I'm not nuts I don't know that my FI is sold on the idea. I called Three Vilalge Inn and The meadow Club. Both gave me great prices, I just don't think I want a place like that.
At Port Jazz, private parties have to be over by 9, which is fine because we could still hang out with friends and any family that may want to stay and party there.

I LOVE THIS IDEA Stacy! LOVE IT! Go for it! It's such a unique idea, and although I haven't been there, my parents used to go all the time when we lived in Smithtown, and they LOVED IT THERE! Awesome idea! Such a smarty pants

I think that's a great idea! Maybe to make it a little more wedding-eey by putting some white toole all over the place like on the window treatments?

I think it's a great idea also, especially since you have a smaller # of guests, it will be more intimate than a hall, and very unique.

I think it's a wonderful idea. You could even add some of your own decorations, get some flowers.
