Reception Sites

Hi, I recently got engaged and we've booked the church. Next is the hall. We've looked at about ten so far (yes my future husband is very patient) and the three we are torn between are Villa Lombardi, Jericho Terrace, and Chateau Briand. Has anyone had their reception or attended a wedding at any of the above? I would love some imput. They are all availible on our date. I just want to get it booked already but would like to hear if anyone has either positive or negative information. Thanks.

Hello,

I am getting married in 6 months and most of the big wedding plans are out of the way (thank god). However, I am having a hard time finding a calligrapher to do the invitations. Can anyone recommend one to me? It would be appreciated!!

hi!
I got married at Jericho Terrace on sept. 8...it was beautiful! We got the highest of compliments on the food and the room! Everyone said it was one of the nicest and most elaborate cocktail hours! There is tons of food! Good luck!

They are all very good. Its a tough call, food and service are great at all three. It would come down to style and convenience if I had to choose between those three.

Lucky you to have so many choices available on your date. We looked 13 mos. in advance and couldn't get a Sat eve in September. What is your date?

Thank you all for all the feedback. We are having about 200-250 people so I know our choices on halls were limited. I want a room that we could all fit comfortably. We are looking into December 2001. I always wanted a Christmas themed 'Snowball' wedding. We understand that all three places host other functions at the same time even though they are staggered. That doesn't bother us.

Villa Lombardi was our first choice but it is a ride for our guests. So after much debate it's either going to be Chateau Briand and Jericho Terrace. I loved the room that Jericho Terrace had, and the only thing I was bummed is that I wanted to taste the food and they don't offer tastings. The only bad thing about Chateau Briand is that we've been to several weddings there already, and even though we know the food is great, we kinda wanted a different place.
Pricewise they are running the same, so if there are any other things I should know that would tip the scales between the two, I would appreciated it!

I attended a reception at the JT and was not impressed at all!!! The service was alright but nothing to write home about but the maitre'd was extremely rude!
My cousin got married at Chateau Briand and it was a beautiful affair. BUT... I think that Villa Lombardi doesn't compare to it at all!!! Villa Lombardi is a totally different atmosphere and it blows Chateau Briand away!

I agree with you regarding VL. It is a lot more than the other two, even though it is December. We live in New Hyde Park, and have alot of family coming in from out of town. I know we would be responsible for the transportation and both families would prefer to have the out of towners stay closer to them. I have adding up the figures and we would definetly have to cut back on a lot of the other stuff to have the reception at VL. But atmosphere-wise, it's gorgeous! This is too hard! Can you elaborate what you as a guest didn't like about Jericho Terrace?

P.S: Has anyone had their families have such an influence? Both sides are trying to TELL instead of suggest which place is more us. Is this what the next year is going to be like?

Thank you for the heads up Terri. It's issues like this that I was interested in. You know, the ones you never hear from people.
You can't be too careful, after all we are all spending so much money on the reception to except any less than perfection isn't too much to ask for, is it?

Hi Melissa-
What about the Milleridge Cottage? I happen to be having my wedding there so I know it holds the amount of people you are having easily. You would be the only wedding there. Plus with your wedding being in December, they are famous for their holiday decor which includes the little village across the way. Another good thing is that it is right in Jericho, so it isn't that far out on the island, which you said you are concerned about..Good luck with whichever place you choose.

Hi!
I was at her wedding on Sept. 8th and I have to agree with everthing she said. My fiance and I were undecided between Jericho Terrace and Chateau Briand when we booked our wedding, we chose CB because when we walked in we just knew that it was the place for us! Good luck !
