Reception Sites - help!

So my fiance and I are visiting reception halls this weekend. Does anyone have any thoughts on these in terms of how nice they were to work with, the site, the service, price, etc? :)

Woodbury Country Club
Harbor Links
Swan Club
SandCastle
Verdis of Westbury
Waterview Club
Crest Hollow Country Club
Thatched Cottage
Harbor Club

Thanks!

Re: Reception Sites - help!

Considering you only have 8 months until your posted wedding date, dont be shocked if there are no saturdays left at these halls... you might have to be flexible on that date so just be prepared with an additional date... The best thing you can do IMO, is call each hall on your list first and see if they even have the date... Most will not give you a price over the phone, you may only get a price range from them...

I only know about swan club bc im booked there... when i booked back in summer 07, they gave me a price of 70 for thei basic menu which is really a ton of food and 90 for their 'better' menu which includes viennese, ice sculpure, seafood boat, etc etc... These prices are before tax and gratuity... add about $25 onto each to figure out the final cost pp

If you are interested right this sec in SC, they are having a showcase tonight at 7pm. You can try their food, see their service, see their house vendors, etc... Their gardens are goregeous and I personally like the setup of the rooms altho some do not...

If you have any questions about the place, FM me with specific questions and I'll try to answer them!

i visited Crest Hollow and The Thatched Cottage. Crest Hollow was nice, (they gave us the best Chocolate Chip Cookies and the most amazing Iced Tea!!) but IMO there were just too many weddings going on and I didnt like that you would have to pay extra to have your cocktail hour outside.

We also visited many other places, but we decided on The Thatched Cottage! We LOVED the cocktail hour room, the view and the fact that we would be the only wedding! We went for the food tasting and it was OUT OF THIS WORLD! It sealed the deal!!!

I am a Sandcastle bride and couldn't be more excited! They are really wonderful people. My fiance and I stopped by the other day just to 'look around' and the owner took us on another tour personally. I know they are a little more than girls like to spend, but IMO they are absolutely worth every cent we are paying!

Feel free to FM me for more info!

Well, I am personally biased towards the Sandcastle, I LOVE it!!! Also check out their sister hall, FLoral Terrace....my sis got married there, and they were also great to work with.

I heard Woodbury Country Club is going out of business at the end of the year, so i'm not sure if you would want to go there..

I loved the Swan Club also. It's really beautiful and the girl you meet with is awesome. Her name is Jordana.

I agree the Crest Hollow's (-) is the fact that they can do 3 events there at a time. 4 upstairs i believe and 1 downstairs
Swan Club was nice but how many people are you looking to have. I think the max is 200 but i wuoldn't put more then 190 or so in it
Sandcastle is supposed to be really nice since they've re-done it. Plus u get a trip to Greece
Verdi's is nice but again, they can have multiple events there at the same time
Thatched cottage was very nice. I went there last year for a wedding. The only flaw i saw was the ceiling for the room itself was on a slant and it closed it up a little bit.

I would first call them and see which places have your date available. Then it'll be easier once you narrow it down. Are you set on doing in 2009?

on your list i saw Swan Club and Sandcastle. although swan club had beautiful grounds i wasnt thrilled with the size of their rooms. they were very friendly and courteous.

the sandcaslte was BEAUTIFUL. a little pricey but well worth it. the service is amazing. i'm treated like a VIP anytime i call or drop by. obviously im biased. if you go there ask to see Will.
