Quick question for you ladies..anyone putting an earlier time on their invitation for your reception? My mom says I should defintely do it because no one will get to the reception on time, especially in the summer since therre is always traffic on LI and most of my family is coming frm Brooklyn/Staten Island. We are also having our reception at Jericho Terrace and they say people who come early can go in the wine and cheese room..i think they said they can also open up the cocktail room like 10 min before..I'm just a lil worried people will get there before 7 and have to wait awhile to eat..but I know how my family is and they can take forever to say hello to each other lol..
So what do you think? Keep it at 7 30 or move it to 7 like my mom says?
What are you ladies doing?

I may do this too...
Plus WM has a beautiful bar that people can hang out in if they get there early.

Re: Reception Time (WITH POLL)
The only reason why I am not is because everything (ceremony and reception) are in the same venue...otherwise I would put 30 minutes earlier than the start of the reception.

Re: Reception Time (WITH POLL)
I'm not only because I'm getting married at the RH and we're going to put that the ceremony starts 15 minutes or a half hour before it does start.. lol cause I know EVERYONE on my guestlist is fashionably late.

Re: Reception Time (WITH POLL)
my ceremony is the same place as the rh i put 1/2 hour earlier. JT even recommended that. i think you ask to see what they think. i'm sure they can accomodate those that are on time.

Re: Reception Time (WITH POLL)
I'm keeping the regular time because you have the whole one hour cocktail hour that goes on before the actual reception. So I feel like the cocktail hour is the extra time to give people for getting there. And they're the ones missing out if they don't get there on time for the food and drinks!!!

That's what I was going to say. I put the coctail hour time on the invite and said 'with reception to follow'. That's really all I can do now. The rest is up to them!

Re: Reception Time (WITH POLL)
I am going to try to start the ceremony 15 min late, I don't want the people that actually arrived on time to have to sit there for too long. I am not doing this for the reception though! if people arrive halfway into cocktail hour I am not going to care, it might make it easier for me to greet people that way!!!!
