Reception venue help

Re: Reception venue help

I'm partial of course, but you should check out Land's End. We looked at Crescent as well, but (and this is just our opinion) Land's End offered more for nearly $50 less pp. We saved by booking of the Sunday night of Labor Day. Jennifer Barnett, the main BM there, is a pleasure to deal with.

I also feel your pain. FH and I saw more than 40 places. We were actually going to book somewhere else (even holding a date), but took one last day to look at three final places. Land's End was the last and we fell in love.

Good luck!

i'm pretty sure that i've been to weddings at all the venues you listed.

You're wedding will be spectacular no matter where you have it. Seriously. I know that sounds cliche or whatever but i totally mean it.
All the places you mentioned are great.

The beach makes for some nice photos, but you can do those no matter where you have the reception.

That was one of the most calming things anyone has said to me lately, thank you!

Hello Ladies,
This is my first post, and I would really appreciate your input! My fiance and I have been going insane, sometimes looking at 4 places a day. We want to get married on the water. I grew up going to the beach in Breezy Pt. my whole life, and currently live in Brooklyn. We couldn't find any catering halls in the Rockaways, so we are looking at LI, and found so many beautiful places on the water. It seems to me that there are 2 different price classes -- those on the actual beach and those on the bay or sound. We looked at and loved a lot of places like Thatched Cottage, Swan Club, Riviera, chateau La Mer, Harbor Club -- and they seem to be similarly priced. The ones on the beach, like Crescent Beach club are about $70 more. I wanted to ask if anyone had been to weddings at both types of venues, and could tell me if the beach weddings were really that much more spectacular and worth such a hefty price. Also if you could recommend any beach wedding venues that aren't as pricey as Crescent, I'd appreciate that too!
Thank you!
shari

Hi Shari and welcome to the boards! I live in the Rockaways and unfortunately the only catering hall around there is The Beach Club. I decided to go to Howard Beach and to Russo's on the Bay... it's a nice view and not overly priced either.
I hope that you find what you'relooking for and if you would want info on Russo's let me know and send me a FM.

Hello fellow Brooklynite ---- We really liked Chateau La Mer and the food is great. Plus you get to come in on a yachet. That will definitely wow so guests

True, so many choices! I really had my heart set on the beach, but don't know if it will happen. Lands End is beautiful, but really far from Brooklyn! Have any of your guests complained about travelling to LI? That is one thing we are worrying about -- I grew up in Brooklyn, and my fiance grew up in Manhattan -- and we want to get married in LI -- I know its weird, but I love being on the water!
