Reception venue help

Reception venue help

Hello Ladies,
This is my first post, and I would really appreciate your input! My fiance and I have been going insane, sometimes looking at 4 places a day. We want to get married on the water. I grew up going to the beach in Breezy Pt. my whole life, and currently live in Brooklyn. We couldn't find any catering halls in the Rockaways, so we are looking at LI, and found so many beautiful places on the water. It seems to me that there are 2 different price classes -- those on the actual beach and those on the bay or sound. We looked at and loved a lot of places like Thatched Cottage, Swan Club, Riviera, chateau La Mer, Harbor Club -- and they seem to be similarly priced. The ones on the beach, like Crescent Beach club are about $70 more. I wanted to ask if anyone had been to weddings at both types of venues, and could tell me if the beach weddings were really that much more spectacular and worth such a hefty price. Also if you could recommend any beach wedding venues that aren't as pricey as Crescent, I'd appreciate that too!
Thank you!
shari

Hello there, and welcome!! If you click on the search button, and type in the name of the venue you are interested in, it will pull up former brides reviews, and posts about that venue. Hope that helps!!

Re: Reception venue help

I've never been to a wedding anywhere like Crescent Beach Club, but my cousin's wedding was several years ago at the Riviera. The wedding was WONDERFUL!!

Did you look at Lands End? It's a little less expensive than The Crescent but a bit more than the other places you mentioned and it's beautiful there. We went to a wedding there and it was great.

We have also been to weddings at The Riviera which was really nice. I went to a wedding at the Thatched Cottage and that was nice too. You should also check out The Venetian Yacht Club and Bridgeview. Lombardi's on the Sound is really nice too but that's definitely a hike from Brooklyn.

We looked at both. I wasn't all that impressed with CBC. To be honest the only thing we liked better than CLM was their food presentation.

I agree, check out Lands End. If I had known that place exhisted before I booked CLM I would have booked there. It is gorgeous.

There is also Atlantica in West Hampton. They don't do Saturday weddings in the summer. And for a Friday in August they quoted me around $140 per plate. They are on the beach. THe menu is bare bones, but they claim it'sbecause their food is 'that good' that they don't try to fill people up at cocktail hour so that they eat all their dinner.

There is Lombardi's On The Sound in Port Jeff. I'm not sure about the pricing there, but I grew up in Belle Terre in Port Jeff and I have to say, it's very nice over there. Lombardi's is overlooking the sound BUT if you wanted beach pictures you could literally go less than half mile down the hill to East Beach and take beach photos.

We've been to weddings at The Crescent Beach Club and The Thatched Cottage ... both were beautiful ... but the one at the Crescent was one of the best weddings we've ever been to!

Thank yo for your honesty! What made it so special --- the fact that it was actually on the beach? I haven't even looked there yet, but fell in love with their website!

I second BridgeView. I was married there in Aug. '05 and attended a wedding there in April '06 and they are amazing.

I've also attended a wedding at Cresent and thought the wedding was fun and the view was beautiful during the ceremony, the food and service were way under par.

FM me for more details on either wedding...

Check out bridgeview yacht club. that is where I am booked and it was actually cheaper then a lot of the ones you listed and its only 1 wedding at a time and you get the entire building to yourself. It includes so much and the food is incredible! HTH!!!

Hi - definitely check out Venetian Yacht Club. That's where I booked and I found I got the best deal there. It's right on the water and both rooms overlook the bridge to the beach. The view is beautiful. If you contact them, ask for Giulio, he's GREAT to work with. Good Luck!!

i'm pretty sure that i've been to weddings at all the venues you listed.

You're wedding will be spectacular no matter where you have it. Seriously. I know that sounds cliche or whatever but i totally mean it.
All the places you mentioned are great.

The beach makes for some nice photos, but you can do those no matter where you have the reception.
