recieving line?

recieving line?

We only have an hour in between the church and the ceremony so we were not going to have a recieving line. Does anyone know how you let everyone know that. Should we put it in our programs?

We are not doing a receiving line either. I was going to put it in my programs but instead my photographer and my Dove people are going to pull us aside and let the parents do the line (if they wish) while we are in the church taking picutres. We don't have the time. We will see everyone at the reception.

What is a receiving line?

Re: recieving line?

A receiving line is a line guests go on to congratulate the bride/groom and their family, ususally right after the ceremony. The bride, groom, parents of both, and sometimes bridal party stand at the front and its traditional purpose is to make sure the bride/groom greet everyone at the wedding. They tend to be long and boring and I strongly suggest against it.
#1- it eats up too much time that people would rather be enjoying the cocktail hour (if the reception begins right after the ceremony) or just being on their merry way
#2- this is time you should be spending with your new husband. Take a few minutes to be alone, and then start taking your photos
#3- a much more personal way to greet your guests is by going to each table during the reception.
