I think I responded on the 08 board but we stayed at the Hyatt Regency on both islands and I highly recommend it. FM me for more info.

We stayed at the Hyatt too....beautiful!!!! For a lower rate, book a mountainview room instead of an oceanview or oceanfront. Our travel agent gave us this tip (The rooms are exactly the same, just the view is different). Also, if you are staying in Hawaii on at least 2 different islands and are at the Hyatt, you get free breakfast every day which was delicious...and one less meal you have to worry about lol!!

One thing I just remembered: Hyatt Maui was having construction done on one of their restaurants in late July. Make sure if they are still having it done that you get a room as far as you can from it. We didn't have any trouble (we heard nothing and had a hard time finding it lol) so our room must have been far from the construction.

My sister stayed at the Hyatt in Maui and loved it. I also heard the Westin is great.

I went on vacation to Maui last year and stayed in condos in Kannapali. They were super reasonable. You might want to look into that too.

in Kauai we stayed in the Hanalei colony resort in a condo and loved it...we went for dinner at the Hyatt, but we did not regret our choice. I think the north side of the island is more romantic.
I will admit though it's an older crowd there.

I went to Maui a few years ago and really liked the Wailea area....I like the four seasons the best.

And here I thought I was being creative picking out the Hyatt in Kuai and the Four Seasons in Maui. Thanks for all the great feedback.

I also should mention that I had looked at the Marriott in Maui in case the Four Seasons got too pricey and it seems really nice. We stay in Marriotts all the time and always have good experiences there but I do not know anyone who has stayed at this particular one. If anyone has heard about it please let me know.

I stayed at the Wailea Marriott in Maui, and it's absolutely gorgeous! I had gone to 3 islands, and this was my favorite hotel of the 3 places I went to. It is pricey, but I think worth it.

You should try tripadvisor.com. Some peoples reviews are really helpful!

I am going through the Hyatt...seems to be the best best lol everyone said the same thing so I feel way better. In fact, two people I personally know have stayed at the Hyatt over there and raved about it.
